I heard there was an AWAC guy that printed a UAL Express logo and taped it onto the front of his badge, then photo copied it. He then brought the copy in to [brand X] and they gave him the discount...

I bought an iPhone last week, and after reading your post I called the store to see if I could get that discount. The rep said that they aren't supposed to give any discounts for anything involving the iPhone, and anybody who did get one will probably have it rescinded after the accounts are reviewed. So no discount for me. Hopefully yours lasts, but don't be surprised if it doesn't.
