A buddy of mine is interested in getting hired there as a captain. He was wondering what competitive times for captain hires there are...

Haha. Good point.

Granted if you want to move up to the majors at some point, they like PIC. But you can get turbine PIC, which has a little more worth, just as easy somewhere else. and maybe enjoy yourself a little more.

i wasn't hired as a streetcaptain but i think you have a chance with previous 121 time. if you live close to cincinatti bigsky is having recruitment thing there soon. people here have upgraded pretty fast lately but expect reserve for a while, at least in boston. if you want billings stand in line....

# Hiring Bonus: Up to $5000 in hiring bonus for applicants with at least 6 months as a Captain FAR 121 or 6 months as a First Officer FAR 121
# Must successfully complete pre-employment drug screen and background check. Pilots may be required to work on weekends and holidays.

Pilot recruitment session on October 5 and 6 in Cincinnati.
On October 5 and 6 recruiters from Big Sky Airlines will be at the Cincinnati Airport Marriot, 2395 Progress Drive, Hebron, KY 40148 to recruit Captains and First Officers. Current pilot domiciles are Billings, MT Boston, MA. CVG will be another pilot domicile starting on November 18. Applicants will be able to meet recruiters from 9am to 5pm both days. Bring a current resume, pilot certificate, medical, Restricted Radio Telephone Operators Permit, passport, US work authorization if not a US citizen, and logbook(s). Applicants should be prepared for a written knowledge test as well as reading Jeppesen approach and enroute charts. The next new-hire class is scheduled for October 22nd.

# Training pay: 72 hrs / 28 days. Direct-entry Captains receive F/O pay until FAR 121.440 Line Check is complete. (1st. year pay: F/O: $20.62/hr, Capt: $35.42/hr)
# Paid hotel during training. Shared with another new-hire pilot.
# Per-diem: $1.40/hr
# Training contract: One year / $10,000.00 pro-rated.
# Min. guarantee: 72 hrs per 28 days.
# Pilots are paid trip-rig and duty rig .
# Six paid holidays and one personal day per year.
# Pilots are entitled to paid vacation after one year of service. From year one through five vacation is accrued at 44 flight hours per year.
# Pilots are entitled to paid sick leave after ninety days of service. Sick leave accrues at four hours per month up to a maximum of two-hundred-forty hours.
# Company paid long-term Disability and life insurance.
# After twelve months of employment pilots are entitled to thirty days of personal leave each calendar year.
# Jump-seat: CASS.
# $100 yearly uniform allowance, $175 initial uniform allowance.

# Health and dental insurance with Blue Cross Blue Shield.
# 12 “buddy passes” per year on Big Sky Airlines flights. Interline travel agreements with most airlines.
# Delta travel benefits : Unlimited travel on Delta for $50 per year per family.
# Union: Pilots represented by United Transportation Union.
# Hiring bonus: Captains: $5000 if at least 6 months as 121 PIC, $2500 if at least 6 months 121 SIC. First Officers: ATP $1500, no ATP but 2000 hrs. $1000.
