Compass?
Looking for some insider info about Commpass. Do you like it? What concerns you about Compass? Estimate on upgrade time? Flow through terms? I am currently at Eagle and have been for 7 years. Any Exeagle guys at Compass who would reccomend me making the jump?
Thanks for your help. |
I'm there now, and what I know now I wouldn't do it. They've made a lot of promises, and none of has happened. I guess they've been talking about changing the flow-thru, to what I'm not sure. They sell you the kool aid in the interview, and not one thing they told me has come true. Look at the other threads on Compass and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Hey,
I was T-prop CA before so the CA pay here will be an increase for me. Unfortunatley I have been here since June and haven't seen anything but FO checks...Kinda of odd since I have been flying from the left seat with them for about 5 or 6 weeks. The people ALL have had great attitudes which is an extreme improvement from my last job. I have even been known to do my share of b1tching from time to time. So far the only thing I can really complain about is the $$$$. Being VERY overstaffed right now is nice...I am off about 24 days this month I believe. All that said....if I was at year 7 pay at AE...I think I would stay there. Having to go through training again sucks. You SHOULD be able to hold CA there very shortly right? If I could go left seat at 7 year pay where I knew the routine...I would stay. Nobody over at CMP is flying much except those guys doing IOE. So you won't be breaking the bank with that $61 an hour....If you even get it. |
Add my name to the list of people expressing frustration over empty promises and pay issues. Stay where you are. However, awesome group of guys here to be working with at CPS. Too bad that doesn't pay the bills. Someone needs to refill my glass of Kool-aid! Oh yeeeeeeah.

Thanks for tthe input.

WTF? Flying for FO pay when you were promised CA pay from day one is bad enough, but FO pay while you're actually in the left seat? How in the world is management justifying that? Are they saying it's just a paperwork SNAFU or something?

Just curious, if someone has the minimums for Compass (1500/1000), why did they apply there and not NWA?
|
I can think of several reasons- although I would submit that many have applied to NWA.
1) Compass is actively hiring and filling class dates. 2) You chances of getting called at Compass are better. 3) Relative seniority at CPS is going to increase a lot quicker than at NWA. 4) A job at CPS right now essentially equates to a job at NWA (via flow). 5) Growth opportunities. 6) Plank ownership. 7) New pilot group that doesn't have the disgruntled feel of NWA's group. (At least not yet). |

Now that NWA is hiring, look to Compass to no longer be the ultra-desirable place to be that it was 6 months ago. I have my stuff in with Compass. I did at the start. But now I am really focusing on NWA. A few months ago it looked like Compass would be somewhere between a traditional regional and NWA. Now it looks like just any other regional. It would be a lateral move for me. |

Because a few months ago Compass looked like a good place and a possible flow-through to NWA.

Yeah just did my fed ride on wed. know i should be captain pay from hear on out. Everyone who can attend the meeting better. We have some serious issues that the company better resolve. I find it humerous that the companies CEO says "we are a different airline and we will do things the right way" and then stick a group of pilots on poverty row.... The only reason people came hear vs. applying to nwa was that nwa was not hiring at the time or taking applications. Stay strong the results will follow.

Hey Vikz09,
I sent you an e-mail the other day. Check it out. I am curious about your thoughts via e-mail! J |

I believe the first meeting is next week in MSP. Check your company e-mail or give the NWA MEC a call. Since we no longer can afford to eat, I'll be probably flying in just for the free pizza :p

Sounds like it's time to stop flying until they start paying.

My understanding is that, until completion of the CA line check, everyone is paid as an FO EXCEPT when they are actually flying in the left seat in IOE. Those hours will be adjusted to be paid at CA pay, and for all time flown in September, that correction will be on the Oct 13th check. So, XtremeF150, please check your next paystub, you are going to get CA pay for the time you spent in the left seat, it's just that the remainder of your gaurantee while in training is at FO pay. (And since that is still techniclly your base rate, all 37.5 hours on your last check was FO pay) I'm not defending it or saying it doesn't suck, I'm just saying that nobody is getting FO pay for any time in the left seat, so let's all settle down.
|
First of all that was not the agreement the union and company came up with, and the company is in complete violation of this! They both repeated many times that capt pay started at the beginning of IOE, PERIOD! Not just when your on IOE, but the guarntee also. This was on our first day in class when we were told we weren't going to get capt pay from the start, nor be check airmen. The union did this to aviod letting the company delay our capt IOE, so the could use us as FOs. I've been on IOE for over a 1 1/2 months so basically they're getting a way with it. Your wrong about getting FO pay from the left seat, I've flown some part 91 trips for them from the left seat. Since I'm not technically finished with my IOE, what pay you think I get, thats right FO PAY!!! I was hired here as capt and check airmen, and was told I was to get captain pay from day one. Everybody in my class was told the same line of crap. Then there is the whole check airmen fabrication. I was lured here from a good airline by all these promises, and now I'm making $1000 dollars a month, this is unacceptable! I'm not going to settle down, I'm mad as hell! I now there is a lot of us who feel the same way, and I know I'm not going to take this laying down.

Sounds like the place is kind of imploding. They will have trouble filling classes soon.

Also if you are getting ready to get started on the home study. get ready to get frustrated. Poorly put together. A lot of info (some good), very poor tests. The pay is about 1/4 of what it should be to get through it all too (basically what I expected). |
[quote=skid;239357]They already are. They cant fill all 6 slots most weeks. They were shockes when all 8 of us showed up a month ago. However I know of a few that are not coming back from my class at the end of the home study.

Anybody else able to get into the high-altitude meteorology exam at the very end of the general subjects? It's the only thing I have left there and can't get in! The aircraft CBT seems to be pretty decent so far, but was put together by an outside vendor and is about the E170 in general rather than Compass' E175s. Would be nice to have something that incorporates Compass' procedures while teaching the systems. |
That is total absolute BS to pay someone CA pay only while in the left seat, and then FO pay for the rest of guarantee. Either you are a CA, or you aren't. What a stupid system.
I don't think anyone should settle down over this. It is egregious abuse. No I don't fly at Compass, and yes, it is my business. This kind of crap is the business of every professional pilot out there. |
I don't think anyone I know that quit their last job because of a letter of promised class date for a check airman position and CA pay from day one is going to settle down.
Then when you actually arrive in class they tell you after you have quit your old job that you will be paid as an FO till you start IOE. Then when you start IOE they say when you finish IOE???? Every pay day I get more upset...and poor. Good thing I still have generous parents to rely on....That's at the very least embarrasing to ask for help from your parents....I'm an airline CA and have been for several years and can't pay bills!!! |
