Default New Colgan Mins?

Web Site shows 600/100. Previously it was 500/80 and I believe APC showed 500/50.

Can't disagree there. I don't know why they would raise them though since all I hear is how bad they need pilots.

way way way to low!!!!!!!!!!!

face it, if the pax knew the MINIMAL experience that was upfront, i think most wouldnt even fly.....ha.ha.

i think 1000 hours should be the minimum across the board!!

just my $.02....of course, then again, i think GO! Jets is the best airline out there!! (oh boy, handgrenade inbound)......

cheers,

Jeff

P.s....you KNOW i was just joking about the GO comment.....

I disagree here. 121 training is very rigorous and strict. When you come out, you know how to fly the airplane and know what to do when things go south. What's the difference between a 600 hour pilot and a 1000 hour pilot? 400 hours as a CFI in a 172? Or better yet...a seminole?
Once you study your butt off and receive a commercial license, Instrument rating, multi engine, and type rating, you've proven to many people that you know how to fly. Yes you pick up techniques and experience after a while, but it doesn't mean you're an unsafe pilot until then. There are 1500 hour pilots that have problems with a king air, and there are 600 hour pilots that could handle a CRJ single pilot into JFK. It all depends on the person

No I don't agree with you. They can TELL that we dont have 20 years of experience behind us. What I mean is many of us are in our early/mid 20s and obviously look our age. Yes, some pax dont like it and dont have a prob telling it to our face "arent you too young" but honestly that doesnt stop them from buying another ticket next time around. In the end, it's just too convenient and cheap to choose driving over flying.

as far as the "new mins"... I dont know why they bother, I doubt that they're really sticking with it (or most other regionals for that matter.) I know a few ARe strict about their published mins, but all five I've interviewed with earlier this year weren't.

i think that 400 extra hours gives you 400 hours more air experience under your butt. 400 more hours to see things go bad, see things go right, etc, etc.

you are right, with regards to sitting in the right seat as a CFI, the extra 400 hours means virtually nothing. i wasnt taking that into account. my point is that when i said 1000 hours, i meant 1000 as PIC...PERIOD.... the CFI time would just be gravy...

Then what are you taking into account? So some how...you are supposed to get up to 1000 hours without being a CFI? Or what are you trying to say?

Not trying to be a jerk, but you are contradicting yourself it seems...unless I am reading your post wrong?

Didn't I pass the same 121 check ride at 1000 hrs (not all PIC) that someone with 3000 hours would of gotten?

Passing a checkride is one thing, being good at your job and contributing to the crew is another.
