Anybody know anything about SkyWest Airlines?

Hey Guys/Gals,

Does anyone have any info on SkyWest? Are there any lineholders/reserves that can tell me anything about the company that isn't on the website/willflyforfood.cc/aviationinterviews.com? Do they hire below 1000TT and 100ME? Which domiciles are low seniority? How the people are? I have heard nothing but good from Pax that have flown with SkyWest. I have flown on ASA a lot since the merger...and if the people at SkyWest are as friendly as the people at ASA, then I bet its 'the place to be.' Let me know what you think. I would like an inside look.

Thank you much in advance,
D:)

You must not have flown on ASA much if you think everyone there is friendly. I fly our airline 3-5 days a week and see these people first hand. Skywest is quite different though...in alot of ways.

Oh Geesh!

IFlyFL410, why do you say that? (about ASA) My typical route is ABE (Lehigh Valley Intl) to ATL, and then usually MLB (Melbourne)...or SAV (Savannah). I have flow with them on a trip to CVG. Always been very cordial with the customers. My last flight, my FA was funny as hell and very sweet. Would you suggest ASA over SkyWest, or vice-versa? Thanks for the input!

ANYBODY ELSE?!? CHIME IN!!!

NO, they won't look at you until you have met minimums. And, like so many other airlines they will not typically get to your resume unless you have someone on the iside refer you. It is not that they are cronies but they just have so many people being recommended by other SKYW pilots that they don't usually look at you and the pile of other people that they don't know. Afterall, flying for a 121 operater means you have all the piloting and instrument stuff down already. The true test to hire you usually comes with the question "Will I want to fly with this guy/gal for a four day trip?"

Which domiciles are low seniority?
It depends on if youre in the bro or the RJ. The bro is mostly FAT but then again they'll put you anywhere they need you.

They people are great. I really haven't met too many a holes. But I haven't been there that long and I haven't been with another 121 outfit.

laxrox43,

ORD is the junior base. Ophir is right, you need to meet the minimums to get a call back. If you have the minimums, fill out the online application and just keep updating it everytime your hours increase significantly. PM me if you want more info. From what I heard, they anticipate to start hiring again by the end of the year, but who knows? Good luck though.

I've heard nothing but good things about Skywest airlines. I was wondering how well the reception was when they bought ASA?

So it is darn-near impossible to get in without a recomendation within the company?...What about someone who works outside the company, as in...they have a friend who works there, and my 'friend' recommends me? Would I stand a chance there? I know that is a lame Q to ask...but I am just curious. Thanks again!

I rec'd an interview without a recommendation

I submitted my resume when I was just at the mins, and was called for an interview about 2-3 weeks later. I made it through the interview and am now in the hiring pool, waiting for a class date. The message here is that you should submit your resume, and hope for the best.

By the way, has anyone heard any news on when the first classes will start?

Of course you stand a chance. As long as you meet the flight time req's, you definitely stand a chance. Don't even worry about having a "hook-up". I say send your resume via mail, fax and email. You gotta show them you want this job. Good luck Lax
