TSA Commute
I have heard that the commute for trans states is tough. I just want to know what the commute would be like out of PIT or PHL to either domicile (STL or RIC)?

First things first.... you should not go to a company that is a bottom feeder dragging the industry down. TSA treats their pilots terribly. Go somewhere reputable or at least more reputable than TSA. Sounds like you don't mind commuting so try RAH, AWAC, ExpressJet, or SkyWest...
Commuting from PHL-STL or even PIT-STL are both pretty easy. There are fewer flights from PIT, but there are 4 direct flights and they are all on TSA. Between US Airways and American there are 9 direct flights from PHL-STL 2 of which are on TSA. The rest are are CHQ, Republic, AWAC, and US Air mainline. I'm not sure, but there may even be a SWA option.

I am fairly new to the airline life thing; what is a crashpad car exactly? I am guessing it is probably a car that you leave at the crashpad for others to use while you are away??

The pilot groups was the main reason that I sent a resume to TSA in the first place. I have not regretted that choice yet.
Management is a whole other beast, but if you go in and do you job and go home, you can to a large degree mitigate the effects of poor management on everyday life.
I have no proof, but some of the ones that dislike TSA the most are the ones that have made it hard on themselves for whatever reason.
I think that our pilot group is very professional, smart, and willing to work hard. I feel that we do this as a pilot group and not because mangement tells us to.
Sorry for the rant, but I saying that TSA (pilots) have bad reputation was unfair.

I agree, I would love not to have to worry about management. That is a great point.
I could be completly alone on how I live my life with TSA, I have what I call a good QOL, good days off, good trips.
I might be the minority and prolly should not be an advertisement to how life really works there.
I want it to work this way for everyone though

i think the response for TSA would be a dull Management team (save for a couple) just about everyone has been promoted to the level of incompetence.
I'd say thus far, look to regionals around your area, your commute wouldn't be tooo bad, but why do it if you don't have to. As far as TSA dragging down the rest of the industry...not to sure on that one, our management is as bad as most of the regionals, and not as good as what.... the FIVE good companies? And you can't truly drag the industry down if you're not at the bottom of the rope, but you can be dead weight just above the anchor.

Keep in mind every airline has problems, just not the same ones. You won't find that perfect airline. The people that do all the *****ing/trash talking on this website are the minority in the real world.
