Amerijet???

Default Amerijet???

According the the payscale for Amerijet a ten yr Capt of a 727 makes $85 an hr. Can someone explain why their pay is sht. Is it simply because that is what guys and gals are willing to fly for? Or is there another reason?

I, like a fool, took the job at Amerijet. I was told my pay as an FO would be 60K and upgrade would be 3 to 6 months and the pay would be over 100K.

Sounded good as my airline was going out of business and I made the leap. What I found out was they meant 60K every 2 years, not one and upgrade would be way out over the horizon. The working conditions are the worst I've ever seen or heard of. Only 10 days off a month, plenty of 18, 19, or 20 hour days followed by min rest to do it over again. I looked through the logbook and noticed it was a Cat C deferral (10 days) so I went back to see when it was written up. 8 days ago it was written up by a mechanic and on the page before it was cleared by the same mechanic. Sure enough 10 more days back the same thing. Cleared and written up. That went on over 50 da,ys!), terrible training (you get no manuals (just the systems book on CD that you can print out at your expense...oh and the systems book is for the wrong plane! They fly 727-200s and the book is for 727-100s), the joker instructing the class had no idea about the material he was teaching. as another example, he stated that a take off alternate was required by exemption 3585. Anyone who know anything about 3585 knows it has nothing to do with take off alternates.

Lets see, what else. Oh, Pilots are responsible to print their own Jepps. The company proudly states that they pay for the subscription so what more could pilots want? Well sure, they pay Jepp, but you have to log on and print your initial plates out as well as revisions on your computer and printer using your ink and paper. As a result, many of the Captains you fly with have woefully out of date plates.
Sick time. you earn it at .75 hours per month. When you call in sick they deduct 3.75 from your bank. Unless you call in sick from the time they call you for a trip until the completion of the trip. Then they deduct 5.0 hours as a penalty. Or if you don't have any sick time in your bank and call in sick they also deduct 5.0 hours. Yes, that's right, you go negative! I had a scare with my heart and had to take a week to go through all the tread mill tests and such. As a result I was off for less than a week (5 days). Since I was new I ran out of sick time and found out that I was 20 hours in the hole. At .75 hours per month it was going to take years just to break even!

I could go on for hours on this scum bag operator. I just hope this scares just one guy away from going there. It's not worth it! 727s are cool, but they're not that cool.

Wow,

I have to say that I looked at Amerijet with interest as I would love to fly a 727 (earliest memories are of flying NW727's to Butte, MT, made me want to be a pilot). You Sir, GlasssPilot, have turned me away from them for good (although the whole pay for training was probably enough).

Dare I say that AmeriJet is worse than Mesa?

Pay across the board is getting bad and probably wont get better any time soon, yet I still read about the Kool Aid drinkers talking about a pilot shortage.

If it's in south Florida, STAY AWAY....

ALL of these losers (Cappy, Arrow, Amerijet, Kalitta, etc.) are like this. The pilot pushing is amazing and doesn't let up. I worked for arguably the worst one (Custom Air Transport) for 3 years. I loved the 72, but every cockpit was totally different, maintenance was non existant, and it just doesn't get more dangerous. Trust me, combat flying is less dangerous than working for a bottom feeder. No pilot pushing in Iraq.

For many new guys, this is a whole side of the industry they don't even know exists. Subpart Q is the scariest thing in aviation, in my opinion.

Thanks for the info on Amerijet... There mins are rather hi for what a hoax it sounds like...

I had heard Arrow was getting it together with their new CEO.... but that was just an article...

I kind of would love to fly a 727 but like you said "727's are cool but not that cool".
