Mesa COULD repay PACE training cost!
(Key word COULD)
Mesa Air Group announced recently that the company will guarantee pilots who come through the PACE program at San Juan College a repayment to allow for a guaranteed opportunity for Captain Upgrade to occur within 3 years of employment with the company. (Yep! You get to go to CHINA!!! HORRAY!) If the pilot has not upgraded within 3 years, due to no fault of his/her own, the pilot will be reimbursed beginning the first month they go over their 3rd year anniversary ONE-TWELFTH (1/12) of the cost (flight) of the PACE program. This would continue for every month until the end of their 4th year or until the pilot does upgrade to Captain. (You'll be in court fighting for this!)
Mesa Air Group will recruit hundreds of pilots in 2007! (Yeah, because everybody is leaving!!!)To help meet their requirement for pilots, we are offering a shorter 17 week PACE program and revised minimum qualifications. (Uh Oh! Look out . . . . I can hear it now, "Uh Chicago Approach . . . I just want to let you know we are set up for the approach and ready whenever you are" . . pause Controller talking to many other airlines . . . Uh Chicago, we're ready for the approach, over"))
Our program is designed to take low hour pilots to the right seat for Mesa Air Group. (So they can become LOW HOUR INEXPERIENCED JET PILOTS!)
To Qualify you must have:
200 Total Flight Hours
Acceptable Driving Record (LOL!!!)
First Class Medical
No degree required (Oh Great.)

ellen welcome back. well according to what most people think mesa wont even exist in 3 years. and secondly, if these guys can pass a 121 checkride, then theyre ok in my book.
not to mention these guys are getting line checked by the FAA just like everyone else. theres no need to bash these guys they can fly an airplane

Well, you are already seeing a shortage . . . . This is because first year wages are starting to rise. (HOWEVER) they are nowhere near where they should be. And remember you are only (First Year ONCE) at every new airline you work for.
I'd like to see SUBSTANTIAL IMPROVEMENT in pay in years 2-8. $35ish/hr is not subantial improvement (unless you are a kid fresh out of college. . . .) then this is a lot of money. I dare to say that most 5-8 year Captains at the regional level are earning hourly wages that are 30-40% LESS than what they should be earning.

PS the guy in the purple shirt on that page is a FREEDOM A LISTER.
Mesa is a joke. Don't go work there. If you are considering the regional industry and are new to this board.... don't go work for Mesa. I am glad I am not there anymore. Actually, I am thrilled.
Instead of raising wages, Mesa is lowering expectations. How long Mesa will last will be determined soon with the lawsuit in HNL.
JO dangles a karrot for people to get into MAPD. Big jets. Cool routes. Great upgrade!.... NOT. 3.8 years is the upgrade there right now. Go to XJT where its 24 months or Republic or Skywest which have much better upgrades.
AVOID MESA. That place will never get a better contract, especially with anti-labor management getting sued in court. HAHAHAHH Mesa management can eat it.

What else can we do to stop people from applying to work there?
Taken from www.mesahub.com :
Take it as the sign that it is....in conjunction with all of the pilots that are here telling you to run away as well...and go work for a company that at least has a modicum of respect for its employees.
JO is willing to promise you all kinds of nonsense like quick upgrades, etc....when in fact, he has his interests so deeply rooted in anything but the core money-making side of the house, that Mesa as a US regional carrier is at risk of going away before you have the chance of making captain.
They have shown absolutely no interest in negotiating this next contract in good faith...nor do their past dealings with the union show that their legal obligations of doing so will be honored. This is going to be a very nasty place to work in the very short term.
