PSA Interview Questions
I have seen the gouge for the PSA interview written test and would like some help on some answers.
1) On a GPS approach how much sensitivity is required at FAWP? 2) A localizers angular area of operational service volume provides from blank to blank degrees either side of the course along a radius of 10 miles. 3)What are the flight time limits for domestic carrier 2 person crew? 4)What altitude do you cross the inner marker? 5)Distance between papallel runways? |
1) 0.3 to 1.0 RNP (Required Navigational Performance)
2) 35 DEG 3) 4) DA(H) 5) These are off of the top of my head...If I am wrong please correct.. |
4) Altitude at inner marker?
DH for CATII approach. I think |
Yeah, IM is the DH for whatever cat approach you are flying CAT I MM and IM are the same if 200 DH. At least that is what I thought!
|
1)
En route +/- 5.0 N.M. Terminal +/- 1.0 N.M. Approach +/- 0.3 N.M. 2) 35 degrees to either side out to 10 N.M. 10 degrees to either side from 10 to 18 N.M. 3) 1000 / year 100 / month 30 / week 8 / day 4) OM - 1400 AGL MM - 200 AGL IM - 100 AGL (CAT II DH) 5) ILS/PRM approaches - centerline separated by at least 3,400' :) |
o What is Definition of V1
Critical engine failure speed or decision speed. Engine failure below this speed shall result in an aborted takeoff; above this speed the take off run should be continued. o What is Definition of V2 Take off safety speed which must be attained at the 35-foot height at the end of the required runway distance. The best one-engine inoperative angle of climb. o What are the minimum cloud and visibility requirements of Class C airspace 500 below, 1000’ above, 2000’ horizontally and 3-SM o On a GPS approach, how much sensitivity is required at FAWP 0.3 nm o A Localizers angular area of operational service volume provides from blank to blank degrees either side of the course along a radius of 10 NM? 35 degrees to each side o What are the legal limits for alcohol and being a crewmember 8 hours before the flight or 0.04/part 121 operators prefer 12 hours o What are flight time limits for flag carrier for 2 person crew 8 hours in 24-hour period, 32 hours in 7 days, 100 hours in 30 days and 1000 hrs in any calendar year o What are the flight time limits for domestic carrier 2 person crew 8 hours in 24-hour period, 32 hours in 7 days, 100 hours in 30 days and 1000 hrs in any calendar year o What are the DH and RVR requirements for Cat I approach 2400 RVR or ½ SM 200’ DA or 1800 RVR ¼ SM with RCL and TDZ lights o Runway aiming markers are position how far from threshold o 1000’ o Choose example of what a NOTAM (L) would cover TAXIWAY CLOSURE, o You are flying to the station on the360 radial, you have to hold on the 220 radial left (some test have right turns) turns, type of entry o PARALLEL o What is the definition of Hypoxia o Reduced oxygen or not enough oxygen getting to the brain o Maximum airspeed below 10,000 o 250 KTS o FAR 121 requires a turbojet to land in what percent of runway at destination and from how high o 60% o Alternates required for turbojet, o 70% o Characteristics of wind direction in high pressure area o Downwards, outwards and clockwise o Type of clouds associated with strong (sever) turbulence o Comulonimbus, Lenticular, Rotor Clouds (mountain wave) o How long should inbound leg be flown above 14,000 feet Choices: 1 min, 1min 30 sec, 4nm, 6nm o Category C approach airspeeds o 121 to 140 KTS o Category E approach airspeeds 165 KTS OR MORE o When can you sidestep to another runway Choices: DH, FAF, runway environment is in sight, and one other o Upon arrival at DH, what are the requirements to descend? You pick one which doesn’t allow you to descend (beacon) o At what altitude do you cross middle marker, inner marker o Middle Marker 200 above the runway elevation, inner marker o Resume own navigation means o That you are responsible for your own navigation o PIC Line check required when o 6 MONTH o What does this sign mean (picture of a runway distance remaining sign) o What is needed to land on a visual approach They have you choose the two things o Runway insight and preceding aircraft o Range of a terminal VOR o 25 NM 1000 AGL up to 12,000 AGL o Range of a Low VOR o 40 NM 1000 AGL TO 18,000 AGL o Maximum allowable airspeed below 10,000. o 250 KTS o Distance between parallel runways o 1500’ - 4300’ for PRM |
