ASA NOW TOP 3 REGIONAL to work for

in light of ASA's new TA combined with their "500 pound gorilla" pressence in the worlds buizziest airport. ASA is now one of the best regionals to work for. ASA feeds new pilots to delta , airtran , southwest all the time. upgrade time of 2-3 years. you will be making $65k + in 3 years then you are marketable to all other majors or stay at asa to top out at $120K and have awsome QOL ( 3 on 4 off ) .

now lets hear all the negitive black cloud that this forum is the best of all other forums i have ever come across on the entire www.

KiloAlpha 10-11-2007 05:31 AM

Delta and SWA are fine and dandy.. but AirTran.. c'mon now, who you kiddin'

mregan 10-11-2007 06:00 AM

I will also add that there is very little reserve time as well,. esp. on the CRJ 200

CaribPilot 10-11-2007 06:24 AM

:D Man I sure did get in at the right time. Now its just to focus on training.

I wouldn't call a whopping 4 whole days off in a row awesome QOL. At my place, a schedule like that would suk.

JoeyMeatballs 10-11-2007 06:28 AM

Yeah, congrats on your new contract, but your payrates are still way tooooooo low for the bigger planes

Flyboy8784 10-11-2007 08:31 AM

who is saying they are in the top 3? or this that just your own opinion?

Kilo Alpha....whats the problem with Airtran...or did i just open a whole can of worms?

ehaeckercfi 10-11-2007 08:43 AM

There is nothing wrong with AirTran.
3 on 4 off is not bad unless you are a moron, in that case you would never be happy....

Not one to normally say it but this sounds like talk you'd hear around the Koolaid bowl.

This is your opinion and I'm glad you’re excited but keep in mind that a good TA doesn't make a good airline, a good airline makes a good TA (i.e. SWA & UPS). Do you think you would have gotten a TA like this one if ASA had been purchased by MAG? Don’t be naive; No, you would not have. You guys will see that JA and CC are good men; you guys belong to a good company.

Much like the thought process when it comes to our passengers; “where we go.............they go.”

Where they (SKW Inc) go................we (SKW & ASA) go!

Good work man.

I'm not much for useless sarcasim, though, I surprise people once in a while.

My sig line is copied from jetcareers, where I have written a profile.

I have sat sideways and in the right seat of the 727. I'm currently a 7576 Capt at UPS. Too lazy to change my screen name.

SharkyBN584 10-11-2007 04:46 PM

I've had several friends (and one roommate) go off to ASA with mixed results. The dissenting opinion comes from a kid who got tossed on to the -700 against his will. In all honesty, he's not in a bad spot, he's just not a fan of sitting reserve forever and a day getting bumped down by -200 drivers bidding over. If I knew then what I know now, I would have gone there instead. But too late now. The "other" roommate has been there awhile and works a schedule that would be a pipe dream to someone with the same seniority number at RAH. The biggest problem everyone had with ASA was the lack of a contract...once they have one I would recommend it to anyone, especially if you want to go to Delta. ASA is to DAL what XJT is to CAL.

The only real issue I have with ASA is that their owned by SKW Inc. That's not a flame against you SKW pilots...it's a fact of life that your parent company owns two airlines operating on two contracts with two seniority lists...eventually those two are gonna clash (if you don't count ASA losing both it's bases on the left side of the rockies...in which case they already have).

BoilerUP 10-11-2007 04:47 PM

You don't have a purple veil and some black Nikes, do you jetguy?

jetguy 10-12-2007 04:44 AM

wow. i have to take back the black cloud comment now. most of the replies are logical. no kool-aid for me (used to be delta for 9+ years and got my fill). just calln em like i see em. anouther big plus is the scheduling dept will actully work w/ you(ask what days off you want, if called for reserves you can ask if there are any more junior pilots that can pick up and they do it). btw reserves is almost non existant for new hires, some do not even do a month.

3 on 4 off is great, especially if you can keep that as a routine....having 6 days off in a row is nice, but typically, you end up with a couple stints of 2 days off in between, which would really be a downer on me.

ToiletDuck 10-12-2007 04:24 PM

I like ASA. They're one of the good guys. Lets be happy they got the contract they did. With rigs it's not a bad deal.

HercDriver130 10-12-2007 04:45 PM

Well considering that those rates are the NEW ASA rates on most of those you compare them to are contracts 2-4 years old.... yea I hope they are better...

Good for ASA.....

ToiletDuck 10-12-2007 05:19 PM

We also don't seem to have listed other items. Has guarantee changed? What were the exact rigs I can't remember? What are the yearly increases as well as per diem?

Those are not the NEW asa rates those are the old ASA rates as found on APC. So as you can see even with the OLD contract our 70 seat pilots were the best paid in the industry. With the new TA it will be even better.
