Memphis crashpad
Got a bit of a problem here. When I started with Mesaba, I was awarded DTW as a base a week or so into the training, so I assumed that by the time training was complete, I would be moving to Detroit. The fact that my IOE was out of DTW also reinforced that for me. What I didn’t realize was that I was awarded DTW for the month of December, and will be Memphis based for November. I just found that out a few hours ago when I was awarded my line for the month of November!
Basically, I have to find a crashpad in MEM before I start in a few days. I do have a green line in November, but I may be put on reserve for the remainder of the month till then. Does anyone know of any Memphis crashpads that I could get in on short notice? |
Hey, don't know if you've found anything yet, but I just got screwed with the sam type situation at pinnacle. I'm looking for a hotel with some, so I'll have transportation, let me know if you find any

Obviously, I know that you will check the "bulletin board" in ops. Don't know what your situation is but, you may what to look into www.innflight.com.

Dal St8, when are you looking for a crashpad? I'm only planning on November, but if you will be there in November too, I'll definately let you know what I come up with for that month. I only found this out a few hours ago, so I haven't come up with much yet. Are you planning on staying in MEM for a while or will you only be there for a month or so?

The Comfort Inn in Memphis has a crew rate of about 50 bucks a night and I'm pretty sure a shuttle back and forth to and from the airport. Their number is 901-345-3344. I never stayed there, but some other people in my class did and they didn't make it seem too bad. I was based there for a month on my green line and only once did I have to find a place to stay. Otherwise it was very commutable (departing MSP). So if the majority of the month is trips on your green line I'd definitely recommend not spending money on a pad. If you still think you really need a crashpad, there are a couple of guys with them down there, pretty sure you'll need a car at any of them though. Good luck!

not saying this in a mean way or anything,, but how did you not know which base you were being assigned to??? i mean they post vacancies several months before they become effective, you can even withdraw from the bid once the initial is posted... just trying to understand how you could get "screwed" by being moved to another base since the company didn't do it to you, they just gave you what you asked for.... if you need help with your bids or anything just pm me and i can help. (just the pinnacle guy,, sorry mesaba)

Lets not turn this into another multi-page argument. The guy just needs help finding a place to crash.
Check the ALPA site Check www.crewcommute.com Check www.crashpads.com Also they might have openings on the boards in ops...from what I hear. |
I agree, this guy just needs a place to stay. I remember having to learn all of this stuff on my own as the training department didn't seem to cover any of it. I never got taught what a "vacancy" was, it was something that we learned from others who were already on the line. this should be an open forum to ask these questions, not get questioned for a false ignorance.
