ASA and SKYW to merge pilot seniority lists!
Just another “small” reason to vote ALPA on skyw property.
Word on the street is that management is going to merge asa and skyw fairly soon. Asa’s new contract has limited managements ability to “whipsaw” us, making a merger their best option.
For those not familiar with how a merger would work, this is what “would” happen if skyw had no representation. Asa’s mec would put together a proposal on integration benefiting them. Sapa would put together a proposal benefiting skyw pilots. Asa’s mec would not allow sapa to be part of the negotiations because they are not a union as defined by the rail way labor act. Asa would come in unified and organized with alpa’s resources and negotiating experience, skyw would try to use sapa, when that fails we would be left to fend for disorganized, un-unified selves.
Just talked to another guy who met with the asa mec and got the low down on their views. He said the asa guys are sick of us riding others coat tails and are ready to staple us on the bottom of the list!
For more information on how a merger would work with both sides having representation read this. http://www.skywestalpa.org/documents...ut.Mergers.pdf
Guy's/Gal's, skyw is a good company to work for, but things are about to change you can no longer just remain apathetic with your career, if we don’t get organized and unified as a pilot group we will really get hosed! If you haven’t voted yet, take some time to research this out very carefully in the next few days. Don’t take my word for it do your own research, A lot more is at stake than you might think!

I can tell you right now if there were a merger between asa pilots and skywest pilots, the skywest pilots would get the short end of the stick. if this is what management wants to do they will almost have to do it the way the asa mec says to do it, or they wont agree. all you new hires that don't understand how unions work and help you will get a very rude awakening when you end up dropping 1000 people down the list when they do the merger. there are specific rules about merging to alpa carriers,, absolutley none when it is merging with a non alpa carrier, which means the people with representation have the upper hand. good luck with that.

Well somthing big IS about to happen but its not a joining of lists. I can give you a hint, it has to do with a 4th carrier and a bunch of airplanes. Word is they won't announce until after the vote, which btw may affect will if we get the contract or not.

Rrrrrrrrrrright....Please explain why they would wait untill the union drive is over to announce this? They want to give us all the good news they can right now during the union drive!

Here's what I know, a good friend of mine called this evening asking if I'd heard the news. He's a capt in MKE. I said I guess not, he said well its all over MKE about this 4th carrier, but the "deal" MAY hinge on the union vote. Thats all I know. I'm just the messenger. No Alpa harm intended.
