Just read that on Yahoo. I would agree with most all except HS teachers (around my area anyways). They start at just over $30,000. Your mileage varies by location, so I wouldn't put it under "tried and true".

Teachers
This thread has higher numbers than what I was using.
It is important to remember that these are STARTING wages. It wasn't very long ago that pilots had to spend years in flight schools instructing then go on to a piston cargo outfit for another two years before reaching a regional. Those days will return. High School Teachers apparently start out at "$59,269 entry earnings". I even have a friend who upon signing a contract as a brand new high school biology teacher will get all his student loans paid off for him in 5 years. SkyHigh |

These pay scales only hold true in Cal & NY. Otherwise there BS.
I was just looking at teacher salaries last night, and even down by NYC starting salaries appear to be right in the neighborhood of $50K, which in that area has the spending power of about $30K on my side of the state. It's all relative, but it's not the rosy picture some people on here try to paint for us convincing us our gig is so terrible. |
