Mesa: Don't let your friends apply/interview there
 
The only way to shut down this disgrace, pilot abusing piece of an airline is to shut down the hiring pipeline. It's obvious that little headway is being made with their contract that became ammendable two months ago. Cancelled vacations, hundreds timing out.. the mess has started and you too can help to eliminate crap in the airline industry.

Don't let anyone you know apply at Mesa, and continue to spread the word. Local flight schools, hiring boards, etc. You really can make an impact.

Until people stop going to crapbag companies like Mesa, etc. this industry isn't going to improve. Improvement starts from the bottom up.

Meanwhile, a Standard & Poor’s analyst said today in a note to investors that Mesa is at risk of a “significant judgment” in a separate lawsuit filed by Aloha Airlines that probably will raise issues involving Mesa and Murnane from the Hawaiian case. He rated Mesa as a “strong sell.”

easy start.... have few friends they say its ok quick time. Mesa will never pay that money back. They are a cockroach will always survive and lure young low time pilots to work for them.

What do you mean its ok quick time? I am not sure what that means.

Mesa is trying to spin off into the media that they are "shocked and will appeal" when in reality that is wishful thinking. This was a ruling in Federal Bankruptcy Court. If you notice in the media lately Mesa is scraping its hardest to come out with happy press releases to save the stock price but in reality there is not a lot of happy stuff coming out of there right now. The thing that I love about the Delta flying is that Delta owns the 900s and can pull them from Mesa and give them to a better Delta Connection carrier who can staff them with safe and well rested pilots.

Sure, Mesa may continue to scrounge for low time SJS but the numbers are lingering and more and more CFIs are in the know of how crappy Mesa is. It's a criminal company. Withholding pay from pilots monthly, standup overnights, a $12,000 training contract (you can't afford to quit), abusive schedulers, MELs daily, disrespect from other pilots.

FYI Mesa's pilot contract has been ammendable for two months now. Management won't even RELEASE the negotiating commitee from flying the line for two reasons- 1) they are too short staffed 2) JO won't even let his pilots fight for equality and better pay, or even more than 8 days off a month.

At this point anyone that considers MAPD or interviewing at Mesa is not making good decisions. Why would you apply at Enron? Build your hours and get hired at Skywest, ExpressJet, Comair or Republic.

No, I have an even better idea. Tell them they should go to MESA and then go to their regional of choice after getting the SIC type.

Is MESA not giving bad service as a Delta Connection carrier? Rumor is that Delta wants to pull their flying.

You see, the problem with that is that Mesa is one of the crap companies that has a $12k training contract to keep people around for the first year. This is why people get STUCK there, because they can't afford to quit. Thats a crappy situation to be in. You want to quit, but you can't afford to.

Threatening a pilot with a $12k loan if they quit is reason enough to not go there.

Notice that other carriers that don't have attrition problems don't have training contracts. XJT doesn't. Does Skywest? Comair? American Eagle?

RAH has a larger and longer training note than Mesa. Not defending Mesa because I think they are pond scum. Just remember you saying RAH was one of your picks where to go yet theyt have a training note????

Yeah the difference between Republic and Mesa is that you will want to stay at Republic after the first year... at Mesa you will want to get the he!l out. Those two companies are a world of difference, thats why there is a mass exodus of pilots leaving Mesa for Republic.

The point is, nobody wants to be stuck at a bad company WITH a training contract.

If it's true what people say about the company, ("not following contractual obligations, etc.." negotiated with ALPA) then I can't immagine the contract holding up in court. I know of a few that have left and didn't pay off the contract. I wouldn't either if I were in that situation.

on a side note...My last company I worked for tried to get a training contract and the FO's just threw them in the trash on the way out of class.:D Does MESA still have/use a training contract with new hires today?

Yes they still have it but its used more as a scare tactic... they send bills to people's houses but usually don't follow up. I think their legal department is busy enough as it is... hahah
