When I was a police officer a guy in town earned three speeding tickets from me.
He was hired by Southwest within a six months of the last one. |

A speeding ticket shouldn't even be an issue. Disclose it when they ask, and the interviewers will likely move right along to the next thing.
|
Stop speeding? I dunno...
:D Heck if you get a DUI Mesa would probably still LOVE to hire ya! :D:D HAHAHAHA!!! Knight to myself... |

I think SWA actually requires speeding tickets. They need to know that you aren't afraid of driving fast, especially on taxiways. ;)

My guess would be that most of the interviewers have had at least one speeding ticket. I like to think of speeding tickets as donations to the local PD or perhaps just a fee to get to where you are going faster.

Be honest, dont' get another one, and you'll be fine.
See if you can fight it too. You're almost guaranteed to have the price cut regarldless! |
If I fight it in court or take a driving class, the ticket will still show on my driving record regardless, right?

In NY you can go to court to fight it, 9/10 times they just lower it to a parking violation ( or some other kind of non-moving violation) send you to a saturday morning driving school and fine ya $50-100. they do that then the municipality gets the money and not the state. not that i would know any of this from experience:cool: |

No! Get a good traffic lawyer, pay $300, and have them get you out of the ticket. Problem solved. It will never show up on anything. I don't know why more people don't do this. A good lawyer can get you out of almost any moving violation except dwi/dui. I know people who have had multiple 20+ over tickets thrown out with a good lawyer! |

Word of caution about the record expunging:
When you go to traffic school in Illinois, it still goes on your record for the 6 months after your origional court date as a part of your "probation" (which means if you get another ticket while on probation, they both go on your record and you're out the 150 bucks in tuition) It is up to the county cleark to then remove it from your record. The problem is that even though ths system is automated, its by no means flawless. Many times the computer doesnt take it off your record until after you notice it and call the county cleark. That means its probibly a good idea to check your record ($5 at the DMV) about 7mo after you finish traffic school, insuring your state record is in tact. Personally, if you went to traffic school for one (or two) tickets, tell the interviewers that. Say that you had a ticket, got it off your record, but that it could still be there. They figure that if you are that honest about something rather trivial, you probibly arent trying to hide anything big. |

Don't even worry about it. Nobody will care, seriously. Just don't make it a habit.

Whenever I hear SWA in front of me on final, I know it's time to start slowing. |
ExpressJet does not ask for a driving record, nor do they ask any questions about your driving history.

COMPLETELY NOT TRUE!!!! didnt you fill out that nice stack of forms after your interview right before the **** test? one of those forms asked for your drivers license #, state, social... and you signed at the bottom right below the part about how they could refuse to hire you for pretty much any reason. Every airline checks. Xjt, i am 100% positive does on every single person they offer a job. |

Get a lawyer! Most of the time they can turn it into a "loud muffler" non-moving/non-point violation. You'll pay a fine but no speeding ticket on the record and your insurance won't go up either! Trust me, it's the only way!!! Whale |
You'll be ok it's an extra 30 second explanation during your interview.
|
As long as it wasn't a ticket for going more than 250 kts below 10,000 or 200 kts underneath Class B, they will check the box and move along.
All airlines are required to check the NDR (National Drivers Register) for DUI/DWI violations. Other violations may or may not show up on that record. |
