Hey everyone this is my first post and i am also a prospective candidate for the FO position at PSA. I had made it through the whole interviewing process and recieved a phone call yesterday while i was at an activity with a student. I was told (in the voicemail) to call them back up which i had done but i cannot get in touch with anyone. I really dont want to call a bunch and be a pest. I am sure its busy with all the hiring that is currently in place. Its just aggrivating knowing i missed the call! Any ideas?

Jetjock87 11-27-2007 04:45 PM

not to get into a argument, but there isnt anything great about your 70 seat pay-rates..........the F/O rates are actually embarrassing, 36/hr for 4th year pay????????????? I understand you going there if its your "dream regional" but hopefully if you are still around when contract time comes around, I hope you get involved and raise those rates.

Jetjock87 11-27-2007 04:49 PM

nah i understand that. its prob just the excitement of getting out of daytona beach that has him all wound up

Like I said, I understand your excitement I was thrilled to go to Colgan, and I am sure PSA is a better company (not sure though). All I am saying is once the thrill of being an airline pilot is gone, your going to have to live on those F.O wages...........

Jetjock87 11-27-2007 04:55 PM

ive read mannnnnyyyyyyyyy posts before, and just like the rest, i am too for increasing QOL in this career

Jetjock87 11-27-2007 04:57 PM

i am used to flight instructing wages....although i shouldnt compare the two with that as a base because it shouldnt be anywhere near that

Jetjock87 11-27-2007 05:00 PM

hey i see you are based out of EWR...i have an old neighbor that is a CAPT for CAL flyin the 777 to mexico and back on the weekends..atleast last i heard...but thats just my parents talking..who knows if they know what they are talking about

I missed the call. I called them back, left a message and waited.....For a whole day then called until I got ahold of Rachael. I would also keep calling. See you in Dayton!

Yes i agree about the pay rates, only $30hr for second year is umm wow...
I was also considering ASA, but that was only because of the pay. I like PSA's bases a lot more. And from what i've seen they all seem a lot friendlier.:)

ChinookDriver47 11-28-2007 05:06 AM

The 3 year upgrade is attractive; as is the stability of only being based in 3 places and assisting in putting MAG out of business by taking some express flying.

This was my first look at QOL being much more of a consideration than beginning pay. I'm learning....I'm learning.

Well the APC profile on Express Jet indicates 4th year FO pay is 38/hr. It seems like your 4th year pay is only slightly less embarrassing than ours. Still though, I agree, we should all be paid more.

I got my good news today!! I start class Jan 7th. Hope the rest of you guys made it who interviewed the 27th. See you in class.

ChillBillPilot 11-29-2007 11:43 PM

I was thinking about applying at PSA once I build up some more hours....Do you guys know where the training center is? I thought that is was located in Charlotte NC. Also if anyone has gone through the interview process if you get the time I would appreciate it if you could let me know what all was involved... Once hired by PSA do you get to choose your own base or do they choose it for you? Thanks in advance....

av8tr_2007 11-30-2007 03:39 AM

Aviationinterviews.com is right on. Lovely Dayton Ohio for ground. Then Montreal or NC for sim. Top right corner of this page gives the airline's profile including bases.

Noleone 11-30-2007 05:10 AM

www.mypilotcareer.com is spot on. You will get an email saying that the test has changed. But as of the 27th, they are the same exact questions for the written. HR and Tech is straight forward as well. Study the 18R Jepp plate for CLT and also the airport diagram and you will be fine. Calculate a VDP for the Localizer approach into CLT 18R in both time and DME, know how to calculate an enroute descent estimate (3 for 1) and have some answers ready for the HR questions listed on both aviation interviews and mypilotcareer and you are set. The sim is a little pitch sensitive and is a table top PCATD from www.flyelite.com . The interview is exactly like the gouges. Good luck!
