Great news. Anytime a new airline is added, it is a great news for pilots. We could use more job opportunities.

probably because every pilot was typed in the aircraft and there was no training contract. There are around 90 pilots there now and some of them have been on the payroll for quite a while so if they had their eyes open for greener pastures there was nothing holding them there so they probably took their type ratings and moved on. Just speculation but probably not far from the truth

Yeah, except when too many airlines compete for a finite amount of business, forcing themselves into price wars and operating on margins so thin they must either force pay cuts on their employees or they go bankrupt, or both.

But, you know. That never happens. I'm probably wrong anyway.

That is true to as certain extent, but Lynx does not compete with all airlines, just other small market operators like Great Lakes and such.
I still think it is a good news. It's better than airlines folding like they did in the last 10 years. (ie. Pan Am, TWA, Piedmont etc.)

I realize that Lynx has little direct competition. I just wouldn't go so far as to say that any time we get a new airline it's good for all pilots. Doesn't seem like Virgin America is getting too much love.

I am sure more than one person will be disappointed when they board a Lynx plane expecting this:

Great Lakes flies mostly EAS routes. Look at Lynx destinations…already served by UAL (and express) to DEN. They are trying to feed people to F9.
I wonder how this will work in the long term because many F9 flights are full. They new routes will bring people to DEN…but then what?
By the way…the Q-400’s sure looked cool in the snow on Saturday!!!

It'll likely work the same way it works for any other airline that utilizes Express/Connection feed...via a hub connection when you purchase your ticket.

Why Pilots are leaving Lynx.

Pilots are leaving Lynx because their work rules and pay are terrible. CA's and FO's can make more money at almost any other airline. The 2nd year pay is embarrassing.

They've actually announced what the rates will be beyond the first year? And work rules?

Details please...
