Republic Airways
Hey anyone interviewed at Republic lately? What airplanes and bases are they assigning? How does their training pay work? Do they cover hotels? Per Diem? Whats your pay while in training?
Anything different if you already have your SIC in the airplane? |
Hiring for the 170 and 145. No CRJ new-hire classes in sight. With the amount of movement right now, you can probably hold any base you want within a couple of months. You get paid $400/wk during the first month of training, then guarantee after that. Hotels are paid for by the company during training, but they are double occupancy. No per diem during training because they claim you have not been assigned to a base yet, so there is no way you are out of base. I believe they may still be offering a $2500 bonus if you are currently qualified on the aircraft that you are assigned to. If you fly the 145 right now, you will only get the bonus if you are assigned to the 145 at CHQ.

I've got my 145 SIC. The 2500 would be nice. I'd love to get SDF as thats home for me, but if they offered the 170, I'd be hard pressed not to take it.. I've heard rumors about giving people who have their SIC in the 145 already the 170 to avoid paying the 2500, any truth to that?

I can tell you that nobody in the current Shuttle class has less than about 1000 hours.... some have some lowish ME but total time is there. I know of someone a few classes ahead with 380/180 .......... but that is not the norm that we have seen.
|
I don't think they hire that low..........

I did submit a resume today (just to show intrest....so we'll see), I'm flying all weekend, going to try an log another 7 hours per day ME on fri/sat/sun, that will get me up to around 280-285/100-105me.......just now starting to study the ATP written, going to try to do that written by next weekend.......after I take the ATP Written is when I'll really start looking to goto open houses (I have flight benefits since I'm a F/A so that will help going to the open houses)..........I dont' want to go apply and look dumb then be penalized 6 months before I can apply again.....and I'll just keep flying on my days off until something bites....
|
Just out of pure curiosity, how much time do the high time new hires have?
|
Go if you have the time, you never know.

RAH will not hire you with 250 hours, forget about it. Who cares about multi, all you need is a hundred.

Do you think I would apply if I personally didn't think I was ready? This is my last post ref I see this topic going into flame as usual, over the argument over low timers.....there is enough of that debate on this forum under other posts to fill up several GigaBytes of hard drive space.....

have fun at mesa, try not to hurt anybody or ruin your career. Low timers have low experience and paying passengers and the families of those passengers deserve better. So does the industry. I feel very sorry for the captains that you fly with. At 250 hours you are not ready to fly a jet full of people, shoot you can't even get insured to fly a cessna 310 by yourself with that kind of time. Good luck.

So, is 1400/100 competitive? I was hoping to get up to 125, but running low on $$$.

Sending it in Monday, after I get over 100 hours (this weekend). Already sent in to ASA, and sending into Mesa (Don't flame me, going to go to their interview session locally for experience interviewing). Considering sending into Air Wisconsin as well.
|
Three of us in the current shuttle class have over 2000.... high time is about 2800.

Lbell911,
Don't listen to the pessimists. They have baggage of a different sort. It is a dynamic time right now and if you want to be a CFI (as some suggest) and train all the people that will be have a seniority number, then have at it. Good luck and live the life you have imagined. |

You'll be on reserve with RAH longer than you probably will be at TSA. Sit tight, you'll only be there a couple months.

Go there just to say hello. Even if you don't have the time, getting to know LB and KD will help you when the time comes . 1400/100 will get you a job for the dude that asked.
|
Geez, when I got hired, you HAD to have 1500/300. I'd say take the job if you get the chance.

for the benefit of your family and the families of your passengers and the industry, why don't you hold on trying to get a jet job before you gain some experience. It will serve you better in the long run, become a cfi and instruct for a while before you go for the airlines. In my opinion it is dangerous and irresponsible to make your self available to these dump regionals (mesa, pinnacle, etc.) that will hire you with a commercial multi license. I try to avoid jumpseating on the these because I don't feel confident in the ability up front. RAH will not hire you with 250 hours, forget about it. Who cares about multi, all you need is a hundred. Get some commmand experience. If you were wondering I got on at RAH with 2000TT and 700MEL.
Our (U.S.) military puts guys in at minimal time. I'm getting ready to do another tour in Iraq and a third of our co-pilots are still at Rucker training. European airlines hire guys right out of doing their ATPL's. Their safety record is on par with ours. Our airlines used to hire guys in the early '50's straight into FO positions right at minimal time. And that was back when those planes really did require extra sets of eyes to fly. If the guy can make the requirements, pass the airlines training, let him go for the job. I would have loved to have gotten my Comm rating and gone straight to a jet. I'm sick of the "I had to do, so do you mentality." Another benefit of all these low time guys getting jobs is that means we as pilots are back in demand. Slowly our pay and benefits will start creeping back up. |

I'm not happy with TSA, plus if I can get a base closer to home and better pay. Hell if I get based at home I'll sit reserve for a year, won't need to pay for a C-Pad then!

Yeah, but hey I won't complain. Got my SIC and no training contract. :D |
Don't get me wrong, if I were still on reserve I'd probably be thinking about the same move.
