Driving record Interviews

My drivers lisence will be suspended for 1 yr ....

what are my chances of getting hired to a regional????? If any? I got an insurance citation in my state and thats an automatic 1yr suspension......

Am I pretty much doomed for future airline interviews REGIONALS?

crjterrehaute 12-13-2007 01:30 AM

Sorry..........Its not a death sentance but you dont have much chance to get hired, they will wonder how you will get to the airport.....and wonder about other things? If it was DUI related you will have even a lesser chance to get hired:(

Get a good lawyer,!!!!! I don't know what state your in but in Indiana you can get a deferral on an insurance violation.

If its' DUI related, recent like 5 years or less, not good. As a previuos poster said, invest in a lawyer, I'm sure they can assist you.

It is not a killer. Just be open and honest about it and how you learned from it. I know PLENTY of guys that got DUI's and still got jobs (I know yours isn't a DUI, just using a more extreme point). The only problem is you will probably have to wait until you get your DL back to start interviewing as a previous poster said, they will want to know how you will get to work.

Perfectly said. Be honest if the question arises and start building a clean driving today. Time will make this suspension less significant.

If I understand correctly you got cited for not having proof of insurance?

A suspension seems pretty draconian...what state is that? I'll have to remember never to go there.

If you did get it suspended for insurance paperwork and not a moving violation, I don't think most airlines would hold that against you (unless was your tweflth or fifteenth violation ). You would probably have to explain how you planned to get to work (cab fare on first year regional pay? Cabbies make more than regional FO's...)

Must be the Mesa/GoJet pilots...

Get a Lawyer. Yes you're guilty, but a good lawyer can turn it around for you. Regionals will hire you if you've not had a DUI within the last 18 months.

You can always go for the interview and tell them that you're license was suspended on the specific date...

jester 12-18-2007 11:36 AM

Where do you get the last 18 month rule, is this just some or all. Why 18 months, is that just an alotted time that they feel you would safe again??

IN WHICH STATE DO YOU LIVE? You should go get a really good tan, grow out your hair, don't shave, and go to one of those states that gives drivers licenses to illegals. You might have to add a few letters to your name though.

Suffering from a case of xenophobia are we? What the hell does that have to do with the subject matter of the post?

To answer the original question, I would agree with the other posts that go along the line of get a lawyer to do what he can and explain it at the interview. I don't think it's that big a deal.

If it's strictly a proof of insurance suspension (with no other underlying issues), I don't think it's going to be much of a problem. It will likely appear on your NDR report, so be sure to disclose it on the application.

Personally, I choose not to drive to work. There are plenty of alternatives, and any employer should recognize that.

It has to do with getting a drivers license, and being sarcastic.

Anyways, not the slightest bit, but if it makes you feel good attacking people on the forums, cool. I don't really see how that is xenophobic? I never said I had a problem with it, in fact, I recommended it.

Not sure what state you are in, but as a current TN State Trooper (at least for 3 more weeks), insurance violations are fairly common. In TN you can be cited for not having insurance and can be given time (til your court date) to get an insurance policy good for at least 6 months. If on the court date you provide a current policy, the citation will be dismissed..end of story. A few counties might be different, but overall this is the way it works.

Its an easy "fix-it-ticket".

However, if you don't provide insurance by your court date, your license will be suspended. Not a good deal when you had time to get a policy because the judge will ask.

Many states work this way. Its not the end of the world, I write 8-10 citations a week for insurance violations.

IN YOUR FAVOR:
1) a sympathetic judge
2) a good attitude
4) neatly dressed
5) no history of violations
6) a good attorney in your back pocket (just in case you need one)

in that order...........based on my experience in LE over 11 years.

GOOD LUCK!
