ATR's at ASA

Heard from a reputable source yesterday that the Program Manager for the ATR (Jim B.) is going to start training on the CRJ next month.

Looks like it really is going away this time.

Still no news about what's going to replace it. More CRJ's?

Read below.. stupid hotel internet craps out and makes me post twice..

Pull a capeair and get a fleet of 402s... that'd be freakin sweet.

If anything, get to do some real flying for a change.

Sad News, but who knows...

nicholasblonde 12-15-2007 02:28 PM

maybe your all's "fab 5" got their moms to call management. Seriously, spoiled kids mothers can make a lot of things happen. I once got upgraded to a presidential suite at a hotel in Jamaica because my gfs rich biotchy mom called the hotel to complain about how our airport shuttle wasn't there to pick us up on time.

If you guys are getting rid of the ATRs, those fab 5 (or was it 4) should get reamed on their CRJ transition checkride. Ha ha.

I'd like to set the record straight, there was and is no fab 5. As a member of that class in question, ONLY 1 PERSON complained and did whatever he did. Everyone on the ATR knows who that person is. Im just as angry at what he supposedly did, but im just as sick having to defend myself just because some guys on a message board are spreading rumors about something they "heard"...

For you new guys on the atr, enjoy flying to some fun overnights with great crews

nicholasblonde 12-15-2007 05:00 PM

Sorry one new hire had to cause all the stress/rumors. I assumed it was true b/c I know two or three people who went there in the last year who I could easily see complaining about the ATR vs CRJ.

I didn't say it was you. Sorry to upset you. I was only joking.

godawgs 12-15-2007 05:12 PM

I appreciate it, I usually just ignore that rumor, but a buddy told me people on this board were telling newhires on the ATR about, and I figured I would put a stop to it. Every captain I fly with asks about it. The best advice I can give you is dont believe everything people tell you...

Back to the topic, its a shame the atr's are going away. I always assumed the we would move on to the -500 but I guess the company/Delta have other plans

ExperimentalAB 12-15-2007 05:32 PM

Did a new-hrie really actually whine enough to get the CRJ after being assigned the ATR?

flybywire44 12-15-2007 05:51 PM

I recall hearing about this from instructors and indoc instructors right after it happened...

Things like this are normally not just made up. This case is a little bit of crying that went a long way in the wrong direction for the folks in question.

The five in question should not make it personal. They'll get off probation and everyone at ASA will know they can fly and this will fade. You'll upgrade, get hired by the airline of your dreams and when they give you the plane you don't want, you'll be happy to get it.

;)
