Bahamas question?

Hi everybody,

I have a question for particulary the Gulftream CAL express pilots who frequent these routes but, anyone who can give any input it would greatly be appreciated. I may be going with a customer down to CLT for a long weekend in a month or so. I am going to try to convice him to let me take the airplane with my girlfriend a little future south to CAT island in the Bahamas in exchange for not paying me for the none flying days. I was just wondering what some of the distances from the FL coast and generally what flying in the bahamas is like (WX, etc). Also, considering the Cherokee Six does not have ETOPS would it not be a good idea to take a single engine plane over the Bahamas?

Thanks
Chris

The weather over there is ok most of the time. There will almost aways be a scatered deck at around 2000 feet. You need to watch out for the locals as they are just crazy they take off from what ever direction they want the controled fields are not much better. The other thing to keep in mind is below 6,0000 there is very limited radar coverage (if it is working )
