Did you happen to notice the logo at the end of that clip? I've been robbed!

We published that over a year ago and it was truly one of those viral videos, it was featured on CNN, and few other TV shows and all over the net. It was fun to watch the site traffic go through the roof and by the end of the week APC was in the triple digits in terms of net traffic.

And such was our 15 minutes of fame.

Of course this version is much better (and has been for a few years!):

Awesome! The things I miss about MEM is Beale Street, Rum Boogie Cafe (best live music in the country), Graceland, Brother Juniper's (best breakfast), Boscos (best micro brew pub in MEM), Memphis in May music fest and the afternoon push at FedEx.

What I don't miss are the bums always scamming you anywhere you go

"Hey man I need some money for a bus ticket to Memphis"

"But you're already here".

"Oh, well can I get some money 'cause my ole lady just kicked me out and I need some place to get a drink".

"I thought that was your ole lady right next to you"

"Well man are you gonna give me some money or what?"

"I'm undercover, go away"

The meth lab explosions around 1 am on the summer nights. MEM summer's period. And the fact that gourmet food is anything all you can eat.

That was awesome. Is that some generic Muzak or a real song?

Is that a pic of the Saab that wasn't chocked if I remember hearing the story correctly?

Tinpusher007 12-20-2007 02:44 PM

I heard MEM has some great BBQ and is a fun city. I wonder where NWA is going to have us fly the -900 out fo there?

Watch a redbirds game in the summer where the most expensive ticket is $16. Large beer is $6. Go over the Peabody hotel to the rooftop party. MEM is a good city. Especially if you are single. Summer is what some refer to as a target rich environment.

Yes it is. The notorious parking brake in the Saab. I guess that was in Memphis. Remember Express Airlines 1

That, I am. And always lookin for a good time. See...Im not going to totally buy into the doom and gloom. I am going to try to have some fun with this, if nothing else.

Outstanding. Wasn't that on the Express Airlines MX ramp? I flew the Saab for a little while and knew it was a tough airplane. Everything is pretty much still intact it looks like. I wish they had built some planes with jet engines on them. They would have owned the RJ market if they had done that. My only gripe is it needed about 25% more power and an APU for those hot summer days.

Tinpusher, it definitely isn't all doom and gloom. This is still the greatest job in the world bar none. My window seat has given me spectacular views of the space shuttle orbiting overhead in the twilight sky, views of active volcanoes in Central America, northern lights, etc. I've also enjoyed putting my feet in the sand down on a beach in the Dominican Republic when there's a blizzard back in JFK and most importantly flying with the greatest people you could ever meet. When it all boils down to it, we all got into the industry because of our passion for flight. Sometimes its easy to let politics and emotions play into things. I'm as guilty as anyone here. But in the end, we are pilots and its the profession and people I will always want to defend and support.

Live the dream brother. Let me know how it goes.

The song was by yours truly using a loop based software package (Adobe Audition) it just seemed to fit that clip.

Wow, really well said!!! (Luckily, I'm not on the side that has to set the Saab parking brake yet...)

Yeah, that was Express mx ramp. I guess they didn’t feel like putting the chocks in. Ghost ride! I flew the Saab for 4 years and I can honestly say the park brake would only stay set 25% of the time.

Those hot summer days were the worst, I would have to unbutton the shirt and roll my pants up to my knees.

Apparently the Swedes didn't envision temps above 70 when they built it. Fly through any kind of ice though. Funny though, the corporate version had an APU.

As far as I know, there are only two SF3's in the world with APUs... boy that'd be nice. :)

That was 366PX? Man, I just checked my logbook and I flew that plane after this happened. Mesaba got a bunch of Express's Saabs back when they were going all CRJ.

BTW, Sorry this turned into a Saab thread.

matlok 12-21-2007 03:34 PM

That's her... ;)
