Default US Airways effect on the regionals. Here's what happened at TSA

I'm Richmond based, but here's how it affected us.

In December:
Richmond had 1300 block hours of US Air flying with 64 different pairings
St Louis had 950 block hours with 24 different pairings.

In January:
Richmond now has 727 block hours with 22 pairings
St Louis has 921 block hours with 21 pairings.

The Richmond base, as a TSA FO was always considered the "US Airways" base, but we lost almost 600 hours of flying while St Louis lost 30 hours of flying. In Richmond, there are now 46 hard lines with 23 reserve lines and 6 build up lines. St Louis now has 105 hard lines and 24 reserve lines and 12 build up lines.

All I know is modifying your schedule at ALL as a Richmond First Officer will be easier than sleeping with Jennifer Anniston

I don't follow? Has US reduced you're flying for them? And if I understand you corerctly, wouldn't sleeping with Jennifer be easier?

Yes, US Airways has reduced our flying, but most of the reduced flying hit Richmond base the hardest.

And our airlines requires there to be 15% reserve coverage to drop request, or pick up flying out of domicile. So as it has it in Richmond, there's almost 60% reserve coverage every day for the line holding First Officers. So it's super easy to do anything you want

Oh i see. Another question. How does it work being based at an outstation? I never quite understood this logic. Obviously RIC is not a hub for US, so why have a pilot domicile there?

Atreyu,

Did someone lie to you and tell you TSA is a quality operation that looks after its people and is a great place to be?

It sucks alot. We have quite a few pairings that start off deadheading mostly from RIC-IAD. It's easy to commute there though. I live in Chicago so I pick up flying from both bases to accomodate my days off

I always try to convince my captains to not fly over block at all. The extra money that Hulas had to dish out last month to pilots who flew over block cost his daughter the Navigation that she wanted in her new Porsche Cayenne

This:

" As a Part-121 first officer, you will earn more than $22 per flight hour "

should be reworded to say:

" As a regional airline pilot factory graduate you will offered the pleasure of starting your career in serious debt for the next several years while making a wage that qualifies you for food stamps, welfare and home heating assistance from local charitys "

" Your family will have to live in cheap apartments on the wrong side of town and hopefully do not get robbed or mugged while you are away from home 3 to 4 nights a week. "

" Oh but you get to fly really fast toys and look cool in that uniform. "

This is why I applied to CHQ yesterday.

I was wondering what was going on when the cryptic messages on the company info line and bid packs. They never mentioned who was losing flying but bringing it up only meant it was about to happen.

Why are you commuting to RIC when there are about 40 flights between ORD, MDW and STL every day?
