I've never understood why they did that with the electromechanical one. I've had to force myself to not do the control check until I put the lock all the way to the firewall. |
Eagle has the electromechanical locks but, never had a problem with it. Oh, I agree the 135 is rocket. Much better than the 145's

He said that it took both of them to rotate the airplane and bring it back and flare it enough so it did land nose wheel first. mx looked at it and found that the torque tubes to the spring tabs broken and had punctured the skin of the evlevator. also the hinges were all wallowed out and broken as well. and then the service bulliten we just got last week said that another one of our birds had jammed elevator and aborted the takeoff. now we have to right the airplane up fo mx if the airplane has been exposed to 50 kt wind gust. and dispatch will monitor the weather over night to make sure it does not get any large wind gust. The crew procedure is to visually check the elevator on the preflight through its full range of motion to look for broken parts or tearing. yeh, we at trans states got the memo about the CHQ stuff...we've since received about 3 changes to that memo. Just glad the torque tube didn't decide to break in flight. And it's always dis concerning to know that the airplane you're flying has a wing with a big ole' crack in it.

yeh, hadn't heard of the incidents at TSA either...never comforting. given how effective the pitch trim is when it's "inop" (sim) then i'd assume it'd be very possible to fly the airplane using only the trim...however, that'd make for a terrible terrible day.....and if i made it through that one, i'd probably leave the industry on that note.

Don't worry TSAers, you're not alone in having not heard of the gust lock issues. I called a couple of guys over there right after I heard about ours, and they were in the dark as well.
