What's with the DSM-DCA flight? That seems so out of place?! I was in DSM a few weeks ago and heard a Mesaba call for clearance to DCA. I thought it was a ferry flight or something, but I guess I was wrong.

Mesaba has been doing DSM to DCA and back route for a while now since September or even earlier. I know I have done that route since back in September 07.

I know we've got a mx base in DSM. That may have something to do with it? Just a guess.

I was just surprised to see so many NWA Airlink planes that RON in DSM. I think I saw at least two or three -900s, but I can't remember, it was too damn early and I tried not to slip on the ice.

I also see Mesaba does MSN-DCA...

We have flown that route for years. Did it in the Avro many times. We also fly the 900 MSN-DCA and back.

DSM has been a maintenance "hub" for Mesaba for a long time. We used to do overnight maintenance on the Avro's there. Now we are building a 12 million dollar hangar that will fit 4 CR9's and that is to be the principal CRJ maintenance facility going forward.
