Ex-Mesa guys

Like to get some input from Ex-Mesa guys who made the lateral move to other regionals specifically Pinnacle and PSA as well as others. What have been the pros and cons if there are any cons? Has it been from one frying pan to another?

Not flaming here, but why would you leave Mesa for PSA/Pinnacle?

O2ThrotlRetard 01-07-2008 10:43 AM

Not at Mesa yet, but have the option for the 3. I like the fact that Mesa is all over the country but I like the idea of having more than 8 days off on reserve. I've paid attention to what the companies offer but I'd like to hear it from those with the experience.

In order of preference regarding the respect for yourself and our profession:
1) Pinnacle if they get a respectable contract
2) PSA
99) Mesa

Don't waste a bit of your time, money or skills at Mesa. I can give you 200 reasons why. As ex-Mesa, now at XJT, I cannot be more thankful that I don't work there anymore. Reserve at XJT was better than being a line holder at Mesa. It's worse than you can imagine, I just wish someone told me that before I made the stupid decision to go work for the devil JO.

N2, would the priority change if Pinnacle failed to get a good contract?

I will answer for him and say most decidedly yes...but if it's somewhere you really want to live and work, it might still be okay for you. But coming from many on this board who have worked for less-than-desirable companies, your best bet, hands-down, is to wait for one of the well-respected ones to come calling.

Good luck. And don't go to Mesa.

Because Pinnacle's second year pay is only $24 an hour. A jet pilot with a years experience is worth a lot more than that. So what if the upgrade is good at Pinnacle, second year FOs should not have to suffer. Worth even more than the $34 an hour that XJT pays second year, or Horizon's $42 an hour. A second year guy at XJT can pull in $40k, I don't know if thats possible at Pinnacle.

Also, because they havent figured out rates for the CRJ900.... but they are still flying it! Mainline aircraft for sub-regional pay!.Even PSA guys turned down the 900 because the pay was too low.

If Pinnacle fixed those things it might be ok.

Thanks, both of you. I think I'm gravitating towards PSA but all ears in the meantime.

Because Mesa sucks more than Pinnacle.
