Delta/United Merger - Effects on SKYW
Being that Delta is 60%, United is 39%, and Midwest is 1% of total revenue, I fear that SKYW could have some real issues is Delta and United decided to merge with a major reduction in flying.
Has SKYW management discussed this possibility with the pilots? |
Being that CAL is 75% of XJT revenue, I fear that XJT could have some real issues if CAL further decides to exercise their contractual rights and cancel additional flying.

It wouldn't affect us too bad since we are based in the largest hubs. Besides its going to be delta/nwa

Stick to the topic. ;) |
Hasn't been discussed with pilots, but when BOTH carriers were in bankruptcy, there were plans to go on our own, like ExpressJet.

"Stick to the topic."
Disregard that. He's makes a good point and there are no laws here about thread creep. |
Who knows! This is a hypothetical thread about rumors that surface very day. First it was CAL & UAL, then DAL & NWA and now DAL & UAL. They come and go just like when UAL said they’ll have to park 100 planes if oil hit $100/barrel. Well oil hit $100/barrel and UAL’s still flying.
I’m not trying to be rude but the answer to your question is quite obvious; DAL merging with UAL would affect EVERYONE! Delta and United most of all, but you can always expect change to happen. Yes the merger would have an affect on SKW but in the end they’ll still do the overwhelming majority of their regional departures. Our performance is two high with out cost being among the lowest. Personally I think that it’s more likely DAL will buy/merge with NWA and CAL will buy/merge with UAL. Even though DAL did say they are exploring the idea of merging with UAL I don't see it happening; but I don't get paid to make these decisions. |

Agreed but how did you get on the topic of ExpressJet? Wasn't this thread about SkyWest?

Has SKYW management discussed this possibility with the pilots? Or is this just your weekly thread pointing out what's wrong with SKW? Who do you work for, BTW? I'm too lazy to search threads. Like Tony said, all kinds of potential disasters have been hanging over SKW's head for years now. SKW used to sell their own tickets, and it's common knowledge they would do so again if needed. That's not too likely because they control the gates in SLC and at many small airports in the west...makes it tougher to get rid of them. |
"Why do you "fear" this? I'm pretty sure you don't work for SKW..."
Merit is a F/O at ExpressJet and seems to enjoy starting controversial Skywest threads. He must be bored today. |
