Question for CRJ drivers on logging flight time
 

I work at an airline where pilots are trained and qualified on both the CRJ-200 and CRJ-701. Initial training is done on the 200, with 701 differences coming about 5 or 6 months later. As I was updating my logbook tonight, I began to wonder how I should note the difference between the two aircraft in the Aircraft make and model column. For pilots who have flown both varieties, how do you do it? Do you call it CL-65-200 and CL-65-701? So far I've only flown the 200, but I start differences next month and this logbook question occured to me as I was updating my flight time. Thanks in advance for your input!

You can log it all as CL-65 time. It will not make any difference to airlines weather you are flying the 200 or the 700. But thats only my opinion.

Look in your CFM for the proper designation- the 200 is the CL-600-2d24 (or is that the 900?? 2B19?? Shucks I can't remember...) BUT, It DOES matter especially at places like Jet Blue that want to know how much jet time by MAX GROSS category. I think the 200 and 900 (701) are in different cats...

According to ICAO (I'm not sure if they're the final authority on this or not), "CL65" is the designator for all series of the CRJ. CL67 can be used for the 700 (and CL69) for the 900, or CL65 can be used for all models.

We fly both the ERJ-135 and ERJ-145 here at express. I've started to just log it all as ERJ.

Not sure if thats the best thing to do, but it will work for now. As far as types... I wouldn't log it as ERJ 145 XR, just like ya wouldn't say C-172 P model.

I just put CR2, CR7, or CR9. I know what it means. I think anyone else would, too. It's your logbook, though. You can do what you want.

I did the same thing except I said CRJ2/CRJ7/CRJ9. This will be a nice break down should you ever come up on an application seeking "How much time do you have in a/c over 55000 take-off weight? Etc."

No one complained at my major interviews......finally landed a great job.

PERSONALLY... I would put it all as you are typed- being CL-65. In the remarks section I would put CR7 or CR2 in addition to the flight number. Do as you want but I have asked many people this question and have always been told to keep the type in the column just as it is on the type cert. But to each their own...
