The Demise of Big Sky
All I know is what I heard on NPR this morning. I know it's only 140 guys.....but the difference between a recession and a depression is: your neighbor loses his job in a recession. If you lose your job, it's a depression.
What's the world on timing of the layoffs? Immediate or spread out? Any other regionals going to step up and try to bring these guys in as a group? |
hope someone do
|
honestly, not becuase they have sympathy but with all of the inexperienced guys out there, I am sure they will get sucked right up...............they have prior 121 and yes I am sure they feel somewhat sympathetic for their situation.

Cape Air is still hiring. A new pay scale was instituted with a good bump in pay for new hires. We certainly would interview them.

just remmember this forum objective...PILOTS WELPING PILOTS...sometimes I see post that judges pilots for working on this company or the other and cmon we are all looking to get in the air and move on right?
I LOVE FLYING |
We have a few big sky guys at mesaba. They are great guys to fly with, they are always welcome here. no flamebait but I heard years ago we offered senority integration 1 for 1 but were turned down. Maybe someone with more historical knowledge can chime in.
Sorry Foley got his hands on your company. Glad he's not my gardener, anything he touches dies. |
This happend quite a while ago. I was a Big Sky pilot and have been on furlough starting 1/8/08. Last day of BOS and CVG ops was Jan 7th. Billings is still holding in there, but it doesn't look like will be for long.
Most of us have found other places. Other airlines have been really helpful in offering us interviews, and our Chief Pilot, Stig, has been sending us quite a few emails with job leads. I think it helps that we all have time hand-flying all types of approaches in bad weather with no autopilot. Foley and Fred deLeeuw have both had their hands in their fair share of failed airlines. I can't say that this was a complete surpise. |

Stig's a great guy... Tell him an old AA employee says hi from Dallas.
He might remember... I flew in and around EAS routes in DFW 2000-2001... Metro, great stuff... |
