Couldn't agree with you more. Some folks here believe that if they're selective about their words that it doesn't constitute an insult...it's still a subtle way of saying mine is better than yours...

Neither did anyone at Braniff, Eastern, etc.

What REALLY is funny is how you XJT guys get so defensive.

Are you serious?

I'm sorry, but that is a horrible comparison.

I'll endulge your ignorance...

XJT

206 aircraft under CPA with CAL - generating revenue.
24 aircraft under CPA and pro-rated agreements with Delta - generating revenue.
$200 + million in the bank.
Has only reported a loss for two quarters as a result of launching branded.

Tell me again how this mirrors Braniff and Easten?...Do you even work in this industry?

texaspilot76 01-30-2008 03:56 PM

No comparison to WHY those places went under, just making a statement of how you never know what might be coming when it comes. I've talked to former Braniff employees. Super happy at work one day, without a job the next.

And to make my point again, why are you guys so sensitive on everything? Chill out Francis!

By your logic that principle applies to all airlines, honestly do you work in the industry?

Whats even funnier is your work rules & pay................

I saw the landing in IAH today, must of been one of those 300hr F/Os that you guys are hiring to fly em, cause the landing was as bad as your pay............

Actually we have had xjt FO's in each of the last 3 classes at SKW. First I have ever seen however but recently we have started getting them.

wow............................and DAL has had some CAL guys in their class, and UPS/ has had some SWA guys in their class.................whats your point

PS. Why do you have a picture of FlightSim in your Avatar?

Joeshmoe 01-30-2008 04:56 PM

His point is that the previous poster said that "nobody is jumping ship to other regionals from XJT." He was merely pointing out that this is not correct, that he had a few in his class at SKW. I had one in my RAH class as well. Nothing more.

Hmmm...any idea why they left? There has been very little movement in the FO side here, but I have heard of FOs leaving so they could get based closer to home. Though, I know of two guys who commute to IAH from SLC, so I don't get it. One told me he wanted to go to an airline with a union. Cheers. :D

Now I am not agreeing with them but two of them said "they see the writing on the wall". The other is from SLC and sick of the commute to Newark.

Interesting...welp, I stand corrected to an extent. FOs making lateral moves are very rare though, and makes me wonder how much crackpipe intake they had. Too much is bad for the health. :)

Assuming they're senior to me, all I can say is "laaater!"

They're probably the same kind of guys that "see the writing on the wall" every where they go and make multiple jumps at every little hiccup at a company. If that's their attitude then good riddance to bad rubbish.

I'm one of those xjt fo's doing the SLC IAH commute. I must admit, early on, it crossed my mind to jump ship to SKW. I hate the commute. But no way I'm starting over at another regional. I'd rather leave the industry. Now, jumping ship to NetJets, that's something I'd do to stop this commute.

Show a single post ever where I've dissed XJT? Just find one. Talking about the company's financial position isn't an insult. If there are memo's being passed about one company looking to purchase another there's nothing wrong with talking about it. You guys don't seem to have any issues talking about Delta/NWA mergers or CAL/United mergers but you bring up XJT and now someone needs a hug.

LOL...Is that what that is? I found in on a crash pad computer one day and thought it looked cool. I have never really been into flight Sim so I had no idea.

Nope...Beg to differ with my friend. I don't rush to the forums with every company's 10Q extolling their demise. I'm not trying to pick on you but...you do appear to to be the "schadenfreud" kind of guy when it comes to XJT. I wouldn't begrudge any guy trying to put food on his table. Hell I even remind my nine yr old that the garbage man is a honorable man and the panhandler is a bum. I always tip my hat to the CHQ bubbas in IAH and treat them like the professionals they are when they jump. Lets not forget "the enemy of my enemies is a friend". We should be all flying at mainline with these jets and earning an appropriate wage. A jet is a jet is a jet!!! Widebody more revenue...more pay. Narrowbody less revenue...less pay. If the egotistic guys at the mainline carriers would have agreed to allowing any jet platform from 37 to 112 on property instead of going to regional/national sub-contractors we would not have all of these problems we do today with whipsawing. Maybe we all need to read "Flying the line Vol I and II again as we begin the next round of contract talks.

I didn't start this thread. I'm not ignorant to the numbers either. I could care less who does or doesn't work there. This is about a public statement made by a massive shareholder in XJT and the possibilities. The only people who have made any damning statements about the pilot group are you guys working there twisting our words and people like SAAB who just burn a bridge at any given opportunity. "A jet is a jet is a jet" and a company is a company is a company. A pilot group is a pilot group is a pilot group. Until someone states "pilot" in their sentence then it isn't referring to the pilot. Act like some insecure ex-girlfriend who thinks just because she hears talking around her that it MUST be about her.

You are missing the larger point. If I looked at this job like any other job, I wouldn't mind stepping all over you to get ahead. But this should not be like any other job. I would not be happy doing the flying for pilots that were put out on the street. The only organizations that I feel good about failing, are the ones that treat their pilots and other employees like excrement. Mesa --Blowjets--Go-- you bet jump all over it. I harbored no ill feelings when you guys picked up the 69 jet loss of flying...never a sneer or dirty look. I knew CAL was driving the boat on that deal and we were pawns. But once again we all need to take a step back take a deep breath and agree to help each other out. There should be minimums for wages, QOL, benefits, safety and rest rules. These are basics that scumbag operators like mesa do not care about. Instead of fighting each other we should be uniting to fight those that have degraded the profession. Who do you think is going to die if they are pushed to exhaustion...the middle managers or the pilots along with the pax?

Every XJet landing is a thing to behold. Funny the other day approach went crazy on a XJet on sequence when asked what his indicated airspeed was after he was assigned 160 a few minutes earlier...XJet replied 210! Usings SAABS genius logic I can now sumise that all XJet pilots can not maintain airspeed just like Colgan as an airline can not land.

Agreed it is quite terrible! Wish it did not have to be like this but when someone pushes, another will push back. To talk about real issues is one thing, landing style is another. It has about as much substance as us calling eachother "smelly" or "stupid faces."

I'm not saying you said anything wrong here, but really I think what bothers people is how big of a deal people are acting like this thing is.

The hedge fund that wrote the memo owns 5% of our stock currently and only spent $11M on it. There are a lot of funds/inverstors that own more. What they have isn't even close to enough to give them a seat on the board.

For some reason this letter was filed with the SEC (it dosen't legaly have to be) and a press release was issued. Most are guessing it's all to create buzz, they just want the stock price up so the fund manager doesn't loose his job.

Here is a story:

Frontier had a private equity firm buy enough stock when they started up to get them a seat on the BOD. Every meeting they showed up and said they had no confidence in management, they wanted a new CEO, and a new development plan, and yada yada yada. Sam Adams just laughed it off and a few years later they sold their shares and left quitley, and F9 went on to grow and be fine.

The point is letters and protestings are generated on behalf of shareholders every day and forwarded to publicly traded companies all over. Recieving one is as meaningful as one grain of salt, when was is published and filed with the SEC it still means nothing - this time is just grabs everyone's attention.
