Union choices for Colgan
 

just curious on opinons for union choices for colgan maybe besides ALPA, because i know a lot of people were not to happy about ALPA coming in but they might be more receptive to different representation

ALPA, Teamsters, or in-house.
That's really all you've got.

The Colgan Pilot Group is a small start up UNofficial union. It was set up during the ALPA drive to keep a union away.

There are a lot of advantages and disadvantages to Teamsters and ALPA, however either union is a lot better than no union or the CPG.

ALPA, In House, Teamsters...

An in house isn't realistic at the regional level since regional pilots make so little thus low dues. The cost of operating the union is more then the dues brought it. That's why ALPA and teamsters are all the regionals have because they get funds from the union to operate.

Though ALPA has made some poor decisions lately I would proably take them over Teamsters. The teamsters get you a contract, ALPA provides much more then just a contract.

I would agree that ALPA is the lesser of two evils. Somehow despite having more members than all of the other airlines in the local combined, we can't get more work out of the Teamsters. The Teamsters also had the distinction of being the "Most Decertified Union" in 2007.

unfortunatly for colgan pilots, 9e pilots are about to win our scope lawsuit against pinnacle. i am not sure where this will leave you guys, and what will happen. and no i am not flaim baiting,, we have a conference call on it tonight.

well seeing that bush signed merger legislation into law last year, I'd put .25 on alleghany-mohawk. THat would be my thought, but crazier stuff has happened lately. If you hear something tonight, make sure to post it airsupport. I still think I owe you a Fat tire for calling the PCL/COLGAN buyout before it happened. I don't doubt what Airsupport has to say. He called the PCL/Colgan merger, q400 purchase, rj-900 purchase and the ATL base well before it happened. Scary psychic abilities this jedi has.............

What does this actually mean in regards to the scope lawsuit and winning it, this is the first I have heard of it. What does this actually mean as to what could happen.

What it means is that the 2 senority lists will merge and I'm sure some fences will be put up. We can't technically be stapled; that's illegal with the new legislation. However, becuase we turned down alpa, it would be up to the PCL group as to how we merge. THey may also put fences in place such as PCL pilots could come over and fly the q400 or saab, but we couldn't go and fly the rj's. That's just speculation as an example, but it could happen. You could see some PCL pilots over on the saab or q if they wanted to live in base or something like that. It would be up to them if we are allowed to go over to the jet and how they merge the list. I'm sure PCL and Colgan management are ****ed off as hell if this is true. So much for "nothing will change, the 2 companies will stay seperate." Not that anyone believed it anyhow, but it just makes them out to be liars once again.
