Driving Record on an Interview
 

Hello everyone,

I wanted to ask you guys a question. When you have an interview with an Airline, i know that you must bring your driving record. I have not seen/purchased a driving record yet, so i really don't know how it looks like. But, if somebody put a ticket on me and i took it to court and got NO POINTS on it, does it still appears on the driving record that i was issued a ticket??

The thing is, yesterday i had an accident with a colombian woman who ran a red light. She was with her husband and a 4 year old kid (a beautiful family) and i was the Pizza Delivery guy (the crazy kid who is in a hurry). The damage of my car was in the front right side, and her damage was on the rear right side. My light was totally green (not even yellow), but the woman blamed me saying that it was my fault cause i ran the light in yellow turning to red.The police officer was very clear to me, she said: "..look, i was not a witness and its your word against her word... i can only make an assumption by the physical damages of both cars... so i must issue the ticket to you, since your car has damage in the front, you probably ran the light on yellow turning to red and instead of braking you accelerated because you are probably in a hurry"

I was in total shock... i could only say that i was going to take it to court.... i dont care about my car, i dont care about my insurance going up... but im mostly afraid of the day of an interview with an airline... i mean... my ticket says: DRIVER RAN A RED LIGHT AND CAUSED AN ACCIDENT... i don't know what to do, im totally depressed, i dont want to drive anymore (my airbag deployed and it burned my arm)... I finished my A.S degree classes, and now im doing my ERAU Extended campus classes in Miami, FL to get the B.S... Im also finishing my Instrument Rating... and have a few x-country hours for CAX.

Chill dude. It's an accident, not a DWI where you killed somebody.

If that's the only blemish on your record, you have nothing to worry about. There are plenty of people flying for a living that have lead feet.

At my regional interview I didn't have to bring the actual driving record; however, I did have to sign paper work that allowed them to get the records. They asked me to list all violations / tickets I've had within the past 5 years I believe on the pre-employment application.

Thats unfortunate, take it to court and best of luck to you. When you get to your interview, be honest about it if for some reason the violation sticks with you.

Calm down. Hire a good Laywer. Get it removed from your record. If you find a good lawyer, they can get that off your record no problem. Bummer because it will cost about $300, but at least you won't have to explain it at an interview.

Most likely, if they ask you, it can be a GOOD conversation starter...you may even get some pity out of it. I know several people who've been hosed in a traffic accident police report just because they were young and the other driver was old...despite all the statistics that say, other than teenagers, old people cause the most accidents.

The problem is that there are thousands of applicants with squeaky clean driving records. Why take the chance on someone with a record?

Because the guys with squeaky clean driving records are usually not the kinds of people you would want to have to sit next to for 4 days.

yeah because they are really "taking a chance" on someone that has a speeding ticket, or accident, c'mon get real.

There are very few qualified commercial pilots with clean driving records. I'd be a little suspicious of one who did...guys like that call abort at V1-3kts because they forget to fasten their crotch strap.

This incident is nothing...there shouldn't be anything about the actual accident on your record, it should just show up as a moving violation. Assuming you have a reasonably clean record prior to this, it should not be an issue.
