Hi I posted before and I want to know if somebody can give me an inside look at AE work rules,pay,duty rig,trip rig ,deadhead pay.
I live in san diego and also wonder which base could I get as a new hire and if it is conmutable.

American Eagle

Contract good through 2012

Monthly guarantee Line 72hrs
Monthly guarantee reserve 75hrs

Reserve call out is 2 hrs

Junior Manning down to 8 days a month
Days must be made up in the next bid period at the latest.
Days will made up to the guarantee of 11 days
JM pay 150%

Guarantee 11 days off a month both line and reserve

No trip or duty rigs

DH pay is 75%

Any pilot who holds a relief, composite, or reegular line is guaranteed 100% of that line

Per diem is $1.65

May not be scheduled for over a 14hr duty day.

Reserve

Eagle has 3 ready reserve lines and two RAP (reserve availability periods)
Reserve varies for bases in eqipments. Anywhere from no rsv for ORD EMJ to
1+ yrs of reserve LAX EMJ.

Vacation

1yr 2 weeks
5yrs 3 weeks
15yrs 4 weeks
20+ yrs 5 weeks

Vacation accured at 1.167 days per calender month

Uniforms
Pilots will pay up to 50% of uniform costs.
Payroll deductions of $50 per paycheck to pay for uniform.


New hires

Double occupancy until Sim
Pay is 64hrs per month and 16hrs per day of per diem until off IOE
Bases not equipment guaranteed
Equipment in certain bases go in order of seniority based on DOB.
Full health insurance effective immediately.
Jumpseat/travel privlages effective within the end of the first week.
Given 3 move days after IOE.

Sick leave

Accure 2.5 hrs per month of service up to 300hrs max.

Probabation is 1yr with a checkride at 9 months.

I have one question though,when you say JM pay 150 % what does that mean?
how difficult would be to conmutte to base, been from san diego?
and which are the junior bases?

Hey, Only correction to my post is line holders are 12-20days off, 11 is for reserve and cmp lines. Someone mentioned might not start for 31 days. Not sure about that I thought it started right away. I didn't need it for like 7-9mons anyway. SAN might not be so bad if its to LAX. Anything could be a challenge. I do know a capt that commutes SAN to ORD. So its possible. good luck.

Per Diem is $1.70 now. When you get called in to do a junior manned flight you get paid 150% of your normal rate.

Pretty accurate info. But line holders, while many lines do have between 12 and 18 days off, are still only guaranteed 11 days off. So there are some lines with only 11 days off.

Commute out of SAN depends on where to. I think the flights out of there to DFW for example are usually quite full. Commute to LAX is easy, but as has been said, you probably won't get it anytime soon for a base.

JM pay is 150% of your regular hourly rate, meaning if you are drafted to involuntarily work on your day off, you will get paid at that rate. They can JM you so you have only 8 days off, but then must give you those days off back by the next month. And you get to choose which days you want off in that case. If you are JM'd on a day, but want your day off back in the same month, then sched gets to pick which day off you get.

Eagle probably has one of the best reserve systems at a regional. You can "proffer" for open trips on reserve, and can check where you stand on the reserve list for any given day, to have an idea of the likelihood that they will call you. Reserve used to be better before the last amendment round several yrs ago, but some of the reserve rights were given up in exchange for other things (like 100% line guarantee and 75% deadhead pay).
