Flew with a few slobs at my last carrier. I walked two paces behind them in the terminal because it was so embarrassing. I don't care if I'm paid peanuts - I'm still gonna be the best damn looking peanuts.
And I agree, those clip-ons are awful. The zipper ties (if worn tight) look good. |

The zipper ties still have a real cheezy looking knot. I would love to find a nice silk tie but its hard to match the Navy Blue on our uniforms...i know some guys who wear a tie thats close to the color...but it just doesnt look right |

Coming from the military the uniform standards and enforcement in the airlines is a joke. Try preparing your uniform for an hour or so everytime you wear it. Iron your pants and shirt, starch your collar and keep the shoes at least clean if you are not going to shine them.
Joking aside I wish Brooks Brothers made pilot shirts. Their clothing is hands down the best from quality retailers. Never need ironing and look like they just came from the cleaners after 5min in drier. On yet another note they are having a 50% off sale. If you use your airline ID you get an additional 20% off. I just went there and picked up a few long sleeve button down shirts for roughly $20 a piece. |

Here's one for everyone... Blazer and Hat, or Leather jacket and get to skip having the Blazer and Hat? I for one think the blazer looks more professional, but the leather jacket is sooooo easy!

I think the leather jacket makes you look like a cargo pilot. Not that there's anything wrong with that!;) |
I havent read every post in this thread, but I have a question regarding hats.
Decades ago men in uniform (officers in the military and airline pilots) used to wear their caps tilted off to the side just a little bit. Nowadays, no one does that. I happen to think that the tilted look is rather classy if the face and rest of the uniform is well groomed and well fitted. I just cant help but think that if someone were to do that today, that that person would just be laughed at behind his back, despite how common it used to be. Any thoughts? Also, would the age of the person wearing a tilted cap make a difference in your impression of that person? http://freepages.family.rootsweb.com...ble-robert.jpghttp://www.farsarotul.org/images/nl15_23f.jpg |

DISCLAIMER: I am not trashing any Republic or Chautauqua pilot in this post and it is not flame bait.
We had a Chautauqua guy try to get a ride from us the other day. He looked like hell. He had a dirty, wrinkled shirt like it just came out of the laundry basket and wore his pants down low like a "gangsta". I was really embarrassed to have him in our airplane. He really reflected poorly on the rest of the Chautauqua pilot group. Although, I'm sure most people in the cabin thought he was a Comair pilot since he was in our cabin, which reflected poorly on us. |
