Hey, congrats. I told you guys that they'll be running EMB new hire classes long before the next CRJ new hire class. I also expected a few of you to be added to my upgrade class.

Congrats, can't wait to see who else gets the call.

Just some advice, know the Pre-Class Study packet inside and out before you get there. If you have any questions about any part of the study packet or anything else, just PM me. I'm more than happy to help!

Well its good to hear they're running classes again. Hopefully they won't keep the rest of us splashing around too long. Oh and congrats.

Congrats and thank you, now maybe I will get out of FAT before the end of the year

Skywest dosen't mix new hires and upgrades on the EMB.

Yes, they have Indoc the first week. We may not be in the same classroom but we have the same class date, April 7th.

Poor choice of words on my part.

I think it's silly they don't mix them. Like you, I've done both EMB and RJ ground schools. It was much better with the RJ having upgraders in with you. Good luck with the upgrade, I think I'm coming back as well!

BHopper, where did you get the number "9" as the number of people in the hiring pool for the Bro? I interviewed 2/12, in the pool, no email yet.

Congrats! Glad you got a date...we need you! Don't even know if you guys will get much of a choice but FAT would be a good pick for a base. You will move up the list fast and your reserve time should be near zero! I started last April and am already up in the top quarter of FO's and I have been there since the beginning of the year. Good luck in class.....you will have fun!

BHopper88 03-03-2008 07:51 PM

I interviewed on 2/5 and according to the email from skywest there are only 10 people in this new hire class on april 7th.

On a side note, how does the schedule go thru training.
From what it seems like in the pre training material it seems like its 3 weeks in SLC, 2 weeks EMB systems in FAT and then Sims in LGB? is that right? When do you bid for bases? Is FAT an alright bases to live in? Never lived out in Calif (especially moving from Orlando - know it will be a "tad" different) ;)

N49194 03-03-2008 09:43 PM

Unless they have changed something recently training on the EMB consisted of:

1 wk Indoc in SLC
2 wks Systems in SLC
3 days FTD in FAT
6 days Sim in LGB

Congrats and study up if you have time before class. If you know your limitations cold it will make life much easier.

Cheers

My guess..............early to late June. Hope I'm worng.

viper548 03-04-2008 10:41 AM

Attrition is picking up. We may also get more UAL flying that Mesa can't staff. We are using 1 spare to fill in for mesa this month

OptimusClimb 03-04-2008 11:25 AM

hey jetjock, heard today from my buddy that just got the apr. 7 class that expect an RJ class in nov. thats way too far out. Not sure I believe that one.

viper548 03-04-2008 11:32 AM

I was in SLC last month and C.C. came and talked to us. He said we were overstaffed by about 150 pilots. I'm about 1300 on the seniority list and have been going up about 15-20 every month, so attrition is probably 20-25 per month. UAL, DAL, NWA and CAL have been hiring quite a bit lately. Expect attrition to continue at the current pace or even pick up a bit more.

Yea me too! If it is November before another RJ class (Don't think it will go that far) I will be in the Bro about 2 years before I get a transition class.

Why not upgrade? By the time you wait for transition and then upgrade after you sit your 1 year seat lock, you could upgrade on the EMB and have almost 1000 TPIC hrs. Maybe even be interviewing at a Major?

WOW!!!!!!!!!! I seriously think this is WORST CASE SCENARIO! But if you are in the CRJ pool then I'd be begging for the EMB. If you don't you're giving up a lot of seniority numbers to EMB pilots who are going to start new hire class months before you. They'll spend the first year at the same pay rate as you but they'll have better QOL and larger W2's seeing they didn’t sit reserve (extremely short staffed on the EMB and we have 20+% reserves on the RJ) and they were able to hold a line meaning more pay and more days off (13-16 for line holders instead of 10-11 for reservist). Also, after they transition over to the RJ they’ll end up in front of you on the list, they'll more than likely upgrade before you, hold better trips, weekends off or holidays off.

Something to think about.

Just heard from a friend who interviewed today that he was told at his interview that there will be a May 5 EMB New Hire class and that no New Hire/Trans RJ classes are scheduled at this time. This was stated to his interview group this morning in Salt Lake. For what its worth, not trying to add to the rumor mill.

OptimusClimb 03-05-2008 06:23 PM

I tried calling yesterday left a message, but no word yet trying get in the EMB class.

JetJock16 03-07-2008 02:33 PM

For you guys in the April 7th EMB new hire class, look for the pilot wearing a burnt orange University of Texas or a blue Dallas Cowboys lanyard and that will be me.

Best of luck to all and see you in SLC or on line.
