American Eagle FO Paycheck w/ Family Ins.

Could somebody please post what your no-kidding take home pay is as a First year FO with American Eagle, with family health insurance and dental? I realize that paychecks will fluctuate, but knowing what a "standard" paycheck is with the 72 minimum hours would be very helpful. I'm trying to determine whether to take the "leap" to a regional and what the financial implications are for my family.

Thanks in advance for the helpful replies!

When I was a first year FO, on the EMJ I made around $650 first paycheck (after taxes and health such) and around $1600 on the second paycheck of the month (after everything was taken out). This was a year ago, and the pay has gone up about .50 cents an hour since then, plus those numbers are picking up no overtime averaging about 80 hours a month. If you fly higher time lines, spend more time away from base (more per diem) and pick up open time every now and then you can exceed that very easily. I had one month where the second paycheck of the month was over $2000 (after all deductions). And that doesnt include ontime performance bonuses and other things they put into your account (maybe $300 extra or more for the year).

Thanks, Unlimited Akro. I just want to confirm, those numbers are for Family health insurance and dental, right?

Also, did you get benefits right away, at the start of training?

Eaglelounge is not free. Sorry

Benefits begin the 1st of the month following the month of hire.

Yeah, I'll second that Eagle Lounge is not free. Its also not worth setting up a PayPal account just to join a forum. This forum is 100 times better than Eagle Lounge in my opinion... but then again ToiletDuck thinks I do drugs...

Yeah the benifits started in training, I believe it took 3 weeks or a month until everything was in line and setup. There are multiple packages you can select from.

My health care package is the full setup medical-vision-dental. I dont know how much more it is to have a family package but I remember it was not much more. If you are really worried about a good health care package for your family I have heard of other people at Eagle getting better packages outside of the company. The packages Eagle offers (I think it is through United HealthCare) are good, but not great. You are not required to set up a health care package through the company if you do not want to.

Alright...not to burst your bubble but I am a first year fo at AE. The post above says you can expect to make 650 on the first check and 1600 the second check. This is false. Do the math. First year pay is 24.34 an hr. if you have 80 hrs a month...thats only 1947.20$ before taxes or any other deductions. Plus you can expect about 500$ a month in per diem. so after taxes you may bring home about 1400 plus per diem of about 500ish. Not to be a stickler but 2000 is about the max you will bring home as a first year guy, especially with family insurance.

Thanks for the info. When you say "after taxes you may bring home about 1400 plus per diem...", is that $1400 AFTER family insurance?
