PSA response to resume.

I recently applied to PSA and basically got an email back saying thank you for your interest and highlighting what PSA is looking for in an ideal candidate. Is this the standard response to sending in a resume? The email said a lack of response is understood as a lack of interest in PSA so I responded and basically said thank you for considering me.

Have any of ya'll gotten this email?

If so what should I expect from here, if anything?

Is this a standard response from PSA? Anybody have this situation?

Thoughts, comments, threats, and advice are/is appreciated.

Just curious as to how long ago you applied? I applied almost 2 weeks ago and have yet to here anything.

Flyboyrw 03-18-2008 06:46 AM

little over 3 for me, haven't heard a thing but that one email.

ridejumpfly 03-18-2008 07:03 AM

About a week after I got that email I got a second inviting me to interview. The email you got is a generic almost auto reply of recieving the resume.

I applied just a few days ago. I got the (what looked like automatic) response a day or two after I applied.

Check your junk email/spam filter. Keep it clean, and check in there.

Blueskies21 03-18-2008 10:26 AM

When I applied I got the same automated email, and since it said a lack of reply was disinterest in the country, I too replied. No idea if I needed to or not but about two weeks later I got a call for a interview that was maybe a week after that. Could be the reason why they're not calling back as fast is, they were running two 20 people classes a month and now they're running one 16 person class a month because they were having trouble finding enough sim time for the initials and all the captain upgrades we've got going on. No idea if it'll go back to the big classes after most of the upgrades are thru.

It has been almost 2 weeks. I am not sure if I got the automated no reply email or not. If I did I deleted it because I didn't see it anywhere. As soon as or if I here something I will definately leave a post on here!!!

She said competitive was 600/50, but I have also seen posted competitive is 600/100 and also posted that competitive is 700/75.

That is the same automated email I have been getting, even when I update a new resume and send it in.

As stated previously, guys who have already finished ground school are sitting at home waiting for sim. Most will be waiting for 5 weeks and since they are being paid the entire time, PSA has slowed down interviewing and ground school significantly (due to upgrades). It sucks, I know, but if you meet the minimums, be patient:).

PS: When you do get the job and start training, stay away from Wilbur's!

floyd78 03-18-2008 06:56 PM

I started ground this week and we just found out dates from 2 to 4 weeks on sims. They are way backed up buying time in STL and Montreal for sims. I will second Wilbur's = not so good!

PSA vs. Compass?

I know it's a toss-up as to when you'll upgrade, but I am trying to decide between Compass and PSA. If PSA is slowing down hiring, could that mean the start of a slower upgrade? Also, a friend told me that Compass would guarantee an upgrade soon due to buying that many more jets in the next few months. Could someone give me an educated or experienced opinion on these two companies including QOL? I grew up in Knoxville and my entire family is there so I am leaning toward that more heavily but if it could cost me a couple of years in upgrade then I'd take the more sure bet. But is it a better bet or is even a starting company such as Compass a roll of the dice?

I dont know much about PSA but I have talked with a number of Compass pilots and they seem to like it. Also you have the potential of flowing up to NWA is you want to after 30 months. They told me upgrade was about a year now. FWIW Good luck

BankAngle09 03-19-2008 08:15 AM

My crashpad owner is a Compass captian, with no complaints and happy to be wholly owned now...but they dont have many planes, so hope for more over there or upgrade will slow down there as well. PSA is going to run at least a class a month average for '08 and upgrading at least 10 a month from my understanding... both are great places, weigh it out for yourself

Best advice on this whole board!

Flyboyrw 03-24-2008 07:57 AM

..well its been a little over 1 month now since the first email to them..

rickB 03-24-2008 08:26 AM

same here...didnt get the auto reply email though...

cfii2007 03-24-2008 01:37 PM

Why are so many regionals backed up until June? Is it because they went on a hiring spree last Fall and are just now getting caught up?

Juneyah83 03-24-2008 01:58 PM

Right now (for PSA) the reason for the backup seems to be because of lack of available SIM time. Thats just what I've heard anyway.

Im in the May 12th Class, do any of you guys know if there is going to be any time between ground school and the sim?

They gave our class like a week or two. But of course that all depends. So it's hard to say...

BankAngle09 03-25-2008 12:55 PM

I wouldn't think more than a week or two (its paid anyways), i know they are trying to get the upgrades through, some differences classes and probably trying to get our sims back to CLT instead of spread out everywhere to save a bit of $$$.

Plus a week off is REAL nice after suckin on the firehose...

I was in the FEB 18th class and just passed my oral last week. We were told we are not going to the sim until late April to early May!! They will pay for 3 night at the SIM center, either CLT or STL to observe sim training. I would highly recomend doing that, and getting together with your sim partner durring the hiatus to keep up with your flows and profiles.

Other than that, enjoy the time off, 6 weeks with pay and jumpseat privlages. I could think of worse things.

NICE!!!

Atwoo155 04-01-2008 06:17 PM

I went through not to long ago and the wait between class and sims was about a week and a half. FO's are going to STL or YUL for sims CAPT's go to CLT.
