It's Official
Mesa will start hiring CRJ street captains for it's JFK and IAD bases. Company email sent out today says that the request sent out a month ago for everyone that is qualified to send in their bids for captain did not return enough bidders to properly staff all positions in JFK and IAD. Come one come all to join the bottom feeder amongst bottom feeders.

No thanks, I'll pass.
|
And ALPA will????
|
ALPA will do nothing, they're just sittin pretty getting more and more union due for doing NOTHING for any regional carrier worth writing home about.
|
OK, but what if Mesa does go under? Who are we going to be able to bash next!?!?! Maybe we should elect a new regional to bash if this were to happen! Any ideas!?!?!
|
Obviously Go-jets
|
I was thinking that one would come up quick!

Saw this and thought I was back on flight info...could we get any more flamebait?? Of course I have my answer to the question...and besides GoJets I can think of a couple...but I will keep them to myself. |

What do you want ALPA to do? ALPA can't control how Mesa mismanages its way through existence.

They were in MKE to see if they could grab any Skyway guys, i guess since airtran cancelled classes mesa figured they could get people.

I read on another company forum that Mesa was in MKE hiring for street captains. The guy doing the interviews said that they are only hiring for Dash 8 captains. Who knows what those clowns are doing.
|
I'd love to go become a street captain for this devil...

Obviously, you know nothing of Mesa. The requirements will be the minimum allowed by the FAA. And I would guess there will be some flat out scary candidates.
I have to admit with much shame that I know this from experience. Before LAMA I was once a Street Captain in the Dash 8. I came from freight and it was a good short term move for me. Several of the people in our class were hired to be captains and had NO, that's zero, nada, none, turbine time. Two had less multi time than I had when I was first hired as an FO on 1900's years ago. But don't worry the aircraft are fully automated and will take care of themselves. . . dang almost said that with a straight face :) |
sounds like a bait and switch move. the last time they did this, a guy i know took the street captain job and they told him when he got there that oh by way youre an FO instead, naturally he walked out.
|
And give up my cushy job on the 47? let me think about that for a while !
|
ok i thought about it .no!

Not taking up for the company, but I believe we have a fine pilot group. When I catch wind of the reqt's, I'll pass it along to you guys. Brand new -900's out of JFK...I bid it yesterday. |

If they hire one street captain because they don't want to pay to train the FO for the upgrade then pay to train a new FO then they are bypassing people and ALPA should fight the hell out of it. If you're an FO at mesa and meet the min requirements to hold CA and they hire someone off the street over you then I'd be filing a grievance right now.

It's like the military I wouldn't hire on as a Strt Cptn unless I had a contract that said in specific terms the grounds my my hire.
Now lets just hope they hire people that speak english! |
I'm passing on this offer for sure
