Mesa ?
Sorry for the stupid question, I live abroad and I want to know why MESA is not well like? Please, keep it professional.
|
Use the search function. Nuff said.
|
Seriously, OF ALL DAYS to ask this question...this sounds like flamebait, you being overseas understandably has lead to your horrible timing - Mesa just put Aloha Airlines out of business TODAY because of its illegal practices.

Are you serious?
No Block or Better 50% dead head SSHHIITTYY cancellation pay that turns into no pay at all No trip or duty rigs No daily guarantees Mandatory JR manning 8 days off for reserves Majority of pilots only get 10 days off $1.25 per Diem 1 hotel room on some CDO's Don't ask of time off, you won’t get it and if you call in sick you'll have to visit your CP Freedom "A" And Orenstein at the helm, this is the guy who said "as long as there are resumes on my desk, pilots are overpaid." Also keep in mind that Orenstein has a criminal history and is currently being investigated. He also duped Hawaiian into opening the books, then shortly after he started Go!. Hawiian filed suit and now Mesa has to pay $80M plus fees and he’s one of the reasons that Aloha is folding. Other’s can probably go deeper but that’s a few highlights. BTW, its not Mesa that's hated, its Orenstein! |

If it's Europe, think Ryanair, only worse. |

Nope, no questions. I was just asking, because if you lived in Europe, or have friends that do, or you worked for Ryanair, or had friends that work/worked at Ryanair, it would answer any questions you have. |
You forgot no block or better. Nothing like sitting on the ramp at ORD for three hours, having half of your day cancelled and then getting paid for only one leg.
Who thinks they will be bankrupt by the end of the year? |

Who thinks they will be bankrupt by the end of the year? We have ORD overstaffed, and new planes coming from Bombardier....we'll be able to pick up their flying easily..... ....hell, we already do anyway!!!! |
Not bankrupt, liquidated
|
If you live in ORD, is it still really that bad as far as not commuting?
|
Ok, mandatory junior manning? Does this mean you have to work on your days off it they call? Our jm only work if you pick up the phone. If this is true than ***, over?!?!?

You can call them and tell them you are happy to accept the assignment, or you can tell them you are unavailable to do the assignment. If you choose the latter of the two, you will be marked unavailable for work and transferred to a chief pilot (if one can be contacted). You will repeat the conversation you had with the tracker verbatem to the chief pilot and you will be off the hook. This does not go on your PRIA record. That is how it works. |

Many Skywest pilots were trained and built their initial 1000 hours with YV/ZV, those instructors must be doing something right...right?? |

That's nothing more than intimidation. I hope guys as dialed in on how to handle it as you are. Do you at least get time and a half for JRA? |

I've called in sick several times, and never been asked a question, just marked as sick. Other than that, your post is factual; unfourtunate as that is. |

Mesa just took me off line, because I refused to fly over 30 in 7. It was actually only day 5 that they wanted me to go over my 30 hours. I told them i couldnt go over 5 hours for the day because I was at 25 so far. They told me I was fine because it would put me at 29 and the last flight was a ferry flight which would put me over 30 but still legal. Got to the plane and found out they had me doing 3 legs to put me at 31 hours and than the ferry flight. CP told me it was my fault that I didn't make sure Tracking had the right times for me because they apparently were an hour short, and said I should have noticed it earlier. All I can say is wow....Gonna enjoy my time off and apply anywhere and everywhere else.

Wow! That sucks! It's that bad?

I don't understand how this stuff happens. I never hear about it, and it never happens to me; and I'm a extremely junior CA. |

Sounds like you need a new chief pilot. Try calling the PHX or IAD CP. I know you're not one of their guys, but at least they could provide some rational insight when you have probs like this.

Take 2:
A good friend of mine just completed CRJ ground school at Mesa a couple weeks ago. Within the first two hours of day one of ground, I received a text message from him saying, and I quote (but edited for language) "This poop is a cluster ****" True story. |

Other than that, your post is factual; unfourtunate as that is. Whether this is a small minority or majority, it’s a problem, along with the rest of your TA. Please don’t get me wrong, I fully understand that you all are working hard to change it and I back all of you in your efforts. I do question your new hires about their blind move to Mesa and I’m continually amazed that pilots, who spent so much time and money getting to where they are, jump willingly without researching first. But for those of you who are trapped in “Orenstein’s web,” I wish you the best of luck. There is one thing that Mesa pilots have that we at SKW don't. It's an easy decision to leave! LOL! Most of the pilots I come across ,here at SKW, that are thinking about leaving seem to be having a real heard time with it. Even back when the going was good (i.e. summer 06). If you come from Mesa then any regional or major is a huge step up and an improvement in every aspect of your life. |

Although I’m glad to hear they've changed their hotel policies, it looks like the rest of my posting seems to be backed by many current and former Mesa pilots on this thread. Maybe it’s a single CP but it sound more like a crew support problem.

I know it is still happening, but it is far more few and far between then in previous times. Like I said, I'm an extremely junior CA so I should be getting completely screwed, but at current, I'm not. I had that same choice to leave about 3 months ago (to RW) and I stayed and upgraded. Tough choice. So far I don't regret it, as I am logging TPIC. |

I was agreeing with you, that with the exception of what I said, your post was correct. I am one of those current Mesa pilots.
