ASA ATRs
I read ASA is dropping the ATRs in June or July. Anyone know where those planes are going? I know cargo outfits like MAC probably would like to pick them up, just wondering if any airlines were interested.
Also, for ASA people, what is the average age for those airplanes, and are they all early models or are there some -500s? Thanks |
THey are all 212's from the early 90's
|
We will take 'em! Ours are all broke.. .
Sincerely, Amerikan Eagull Manidjmint |
You don't want them. I fly them, they are getting pretty rough
|
My favorite part about jumpseating in those is pulling out different panels to see what kind of pictures are behind them....
|
haha, saw some playb0y flight attendant pix last week.
|
I hear alot of them are going to mountain air cargo

The ones at eagle are ROUGH all twisted and broken, none of them fly straight...not that the 145 i brought down to TRI this evening is any better! |
They're going to be some redneck's lawn ornament. There's a reason you can't spot them when they fly over trailer parks.
|
this may be true.... however, they do a damn good job when put on the right routes.
|
Why is ASA getting rid of these in 100 bb oil environment?
It just doesn's seem to make any sense. |

I heard they'll be flying around in an all white paint job a few months before they get axed from the fleet. So that should be a sign its just around the corner.

I sort of doubt that. It would cost way too much money to paint them and pull them out of service a few weeks/months later. Makes more sense to just leave them alone and let the owner's take care of them when they are returned. Who knows though, things almost never make sense at ASA.

this is true according to what we were just told in recurrent. delta can't return the planes in their paint scheme.
i wonder if there will be a penalty for returning them full of pictures of naked women. someone has been buying quality stuff lately |
I already miss those ATR's. I will miss flying a real airplane!
|
I was told we're flying them to Mexico to get painted? Haha, where are they really being repainted?

Thats true also thats what we were told in initial |
Wait and see, maybe Piedmont will pick them up. They have wanted either that or the Q400, who knows!

I have heard many times that if the merger goes through.... Mesaba saabs will have the same fate. From some people I know in Delta mngmt... Delta doesn't want anymore tubro-props. Mesaba stands to take a big hit in the merger is what I hear from the inside...

Those ATR 72s are probably still expensive for the FDX feeder fleet since they only buy the cheapest of the cheap...

Good luck trying to fly a jet into Devils Lake, ND or International Falls, MN.
