MIA Job Fair 4/12

I was planning to go to the Aeroservice job fair in Miami on Saturday. http://www.aeroservice.com/fair.htm I was hoping to talk to ASA and SKW but seeing as Colgan has already announced they will not be there, I am wondering if even ASA or SKW will be there? Can anybody confirm whether they will be there or not? Thanks.

It may be a scary Job Fair for guys with low hours. My guess is you are going to have a lot of ex ATA, Champion, Skybus etc. guys walking around with more impressive resumes in their briefcase.

I heard about colgan from an FO who works there. In addition, they were scheduled to be at ERAU this week. They canceled that event too.

Colgan seems like the one company that would still be attending these fairs to look for FO and Street CA's. Hard to believe they're not going after a Skybus FO to fly as a street CA on the Q...the pay is the same and the work rules just as bad...wait, we do not have work rules at Colgan.

Well if Colgan doesnt show up, then the state of this industry really is as sad as it sounds...

Not to mention any Mesa pilot with foresight.

Well, as it turns out, Colgan was there today. However, as Colgan Jr. was explaining to me, they're being very cautious at the moment with regards to hiring pilots. He boasted that Colgan has never furloughed pilots, and that he wants to keep that clean record. However, they are expecting to pick up some more Q400 flying out west, so he needs pilots; but for the next few months hiring will be at a snail's pace.

Most of the pilots I met were either new to the industry, or formerly retired.

Southern Air Cargo didn't have their door open during the time I was there, so I don't know what their deal was. American Eagle's room was empty, as was ASA's. North American was picking people up, but it seemed that Kalitta Air was the most busy of the airlines.
