Preferred Days Off
 

Let's say you're working four on/three off. What are your preferred days of the week to have those three days off? In the past, I've bid my days off around bar nights, and in July I'm going to bid my schedule around the local minor league team's home games. Since my wants change from month to month I generally don't care which days I'm off, but with all other things being equal I prefer being off Thurs/Fri/Sat.

Saturday, Sunday, Monday. But I wouldnt mind Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday off as well. :)

I enjoy working the weekends - smaller crowds, and I can take care of the business at home during the week. Plus, the bars on overnight are hopping then, too!

By letting my schedule get a bunch of weekend four-day trips, I can reach stuff that would ordinarily be out of reach for my seniority in base. More productive trips, or weekend 36ish hour layovers in fun places. An extra day or two off per month can also be had by working on weekends because you bypass lots of people who want weekends off no matter what it does to their schedule in the rest of the month.

I bid for commutability so days off are generally #2 on my list. I try not to commute on Fridays or Sundays. I usually wind up flying M-Th, Sat-Tue, or W-Sat. 99% of my commutes have gone good with those days.
