Republic Not Hiring?

, will this stay for very long?

RightSeatDude 04-20-2008 06:55 PM

I don't see how it can... there are 34 more e-jets coming within the next year.

It all depends...companies expanding like RAH or SKW will have to start hiring again sooner than those such mine (XJT) as we are not expanding (for now). That being said, it mainly depends on how much capacity is cut from each company, which in turn is contigient upon their major-partners, and where they are cutting the flying out of (see MAG out of MCO).

It's all a cycle, and after this merging mania passes, and after the fuel crisis passes, you will see a hiring boom again...oh and don't forget age 65, which did a number on everyone as well. Cheers.

jacksjj 04-20-2008 07:44 PM

Take a chill pill everyone...

We are still hiring. Just not enough sim time to go around, hence the backup.

ExperimentalAB 04-20-2008 07:48 PM

But the fuel-crisis will not only not go away, but will continue, and progressively get worse...

Jrod1500 04-21-2008 06:48 AM

The fuel crisis is what it is, but other countries have been operating aircraft on expensive fuel for years. The airlines here will just have to adapt, and the ones that don't will fall. Still another thread that was about hiring that turned to a fuel debate. On the subject the rjet website has a first officer job posting that was just added on the 15th so unless they called hiring quits in the last few days I would say things are still looking up. Like Jacks said there are more people that need simulator training than there are simulators available.

Pilotpip 04-21-2008 08:45 AM

We're still hiring. However there aren't enough 170 sims between S5 and RP to keep things going smoothly. I was in the Feb class at S5 and already have more than 200 people below me on the seniority list across all three certificates. The two (now three) sims in STL are running 20-22 hours per day. As they get caught up the people being put in the pool will get calls fast.

I just had a soon-to-be former freedom guy in my j/s a couple days ago who was placed in the pool. Yes, we're still hiring.

Fuel Crisis What Fuel Crisis.. the Dollar is WEAK and if I am not mistaken oil is traded in Dollars so if the dollar is weak it takes more dollars to buy a barrel of Oil.. then everything rolls down hill, we need an government that will foster innovation and stimulate the economy not the $300 check from uncle bush either cause we know most people either took that money to walmart or put it under the Bed, once we get out of the RECESSION things will start to pick up,

Hey a guy can be an optimist

HercDriver130 04-22-2008 02:06 PM

well if everybody hadnt bought into MEDIA hype that we WERE in a recession and changed their habit patterns we probably wouldnt BE in a so called recession.

Yeah, it was all a figment of our imagination…fuel prices never went up, the housing crisis never happened, what deficit? Oh and why does the fed keep cutting the rates? What do those guys know?

ghilis101 04-22-2008 05:43 PM

everyone calm down. when president McCain authorizes the war with Iran next year, THAT will stimulate the economy and bring oil prices down.

We should probably get back to the subject at hand, before the mods go click happy! There's a politics forum on flightinfo.com, if you're interested.

The difference is that oil reserves are traded in dollars, and foreign airlines (who buy crude with euros, yen, and yuan) are able to hedge the cost increase because they get more dollars (thus more oil) per unit of currency compared to US Airlines.

lol guys and gals I did not intend for this to become a political debate, I was just curious about Republic, they seem to be a real solid regional, anyone have any other insight about Republic that you can't find on other websites similar to this one?

HercDriver130 04-23-2008 03:14 AM

We are as solid as several other jet regional companies...that doesnt mean there might not be some lean times ahead. Good luck.

STR8NLVL 04-23-2008 08:12 AM

Current 170 new hires were let go this morning. I'd say hiring will stop until we find homes for 12 homeless 170's and five more on order by year-end.

Wow...I've got 3 good friends who are/were in 170 training or just about to start it. Thoughts with them. Looks like it's going to be a rough day for a lot of people. :(

HercDriver130 04-23-2008 08:42 AM

Its called MESA.... they have 100 million in bonds due in June...... fat chance that will get paid...... i smell BK in their near future..

OlyRob 04-23-2008 09:01 AM

4/21 classes were cancelled today and sent home, the 3/25 s5 class is still going, the RW class is starting s5 indoc tomorrow. 4 upgrades that started on 4/21 are being downgraded.

saabguy493 04-23-2008 09:05 AM

yeah, just heard the same from a friend in the 3/25 rw. he said they were offered to start day one again for shuttle, even though they have just finished ground school for rw, or they could just go home. this industry is really getting depressing...

It has been depressing for decades. You're just seeing/experiencing your first downturn.

Paok 04-23-2008 04:01 PM
