ASA Interview... To go or not to go?

Hey all,

I have an interview with ASA coming up in a little less than a month. However, I also have a job offer with Eagle on the table.

And so far, my plan is to just wait and see when ASA starts offering class dates again, and if they are giving them out I'll go do the interview, but if they are gonna keep pooling candidates then I'll probably just call and cancel a week before or so. Good idea or should I just go anyway?

Any idea on if ASA plans to put people back in classes soon?

There is another thread on this... ASA's interview is great practice... its a long interview and you get some exposure to full motion level D sims.... They are not giving out class dates as of right now last I heard... Any interview is worth going to (if you would actually like working for the company)...

I'm sure when you're sitting at Eagle as an FO 7 years down the road, you'll be happy you went for the most convenient interview, without considering QOL after the fact.

I can show up at the ASA interview. It is not a matter of convenience.

But are you saying I should pass up a class date at Eagle for a "welcome to the pool, we'll call you someday" speech from ASA if I was accepted?

If not, I'm not sure i understand the tone of your message.

Oh definately. Dude, once you get in a jet, you're like "Phew.. i made it!"

Then, while you're sitting through training and endless hours on reserve, you start to wonder.. hmm, was there a better company out I could have interiewed with where I wouldn't have to deal with so much bullsh*t?

This doesn't necessarily mean ASA vs. Eagle.. but jumping at your first option isn't always the smartest. Evaluate the pros and cons of each airline.. cause once you get in the seniority line you're committing yourself.

Thats good you have a choice! I applied at eagle and ASA! I think I was a little late on the ASA application. A week prior to submitting my app, a buddy of mine got invited to an interview with less time than me. I talked via email with a recruiter from eagle yesterday, didnt get much out of her, she just had me add some things to my app, and no word from her since. I did get a phone number though! How long did you wait for an eagle reply. Thanks for the info! The anticipation is killing me!

By all means take the class at eagle if that's all you have on the table on that day. If ASA calls, stay in eagle class until the day before the ASA class, then politely resign from eagle and walk out.

Wait until the last moment in case something changes suddenly at ASA or the industry in general. You don't need to give two weeks notice in training, there's no point to that.

I applied about 4 weeks ago I think and they emailed back the same day. If you don't hear back, call every once and while if you have anything above the minimums. A buddy of mine had to play phone tag with recruitment for a while to get his date, and he had 650-75. So I think sometimes you get lost in the paperwork.

And thanks for the reply rickair. That's an idea I haven't thought of, but believe it or not I was really impressed with Eagle's operation and I'll enjoy it over there. I enjoyed talking to every Eagle employee I encountered to include gate agents, FAs and pilots. They've got it together, IMHO.

You should definately go, especially if they are paying for airfare and hotel.
