American Eagle or Comair??

I have interview offers with both AE and Comair. Not sure where AE is heading due to AE being sold. Anybody have any insight for me?? Upgrade time scale? Quality of life?

Anywhere you go its going to be a gamble... so it's a tough call but I don't think Eagle will be sold, shrunk maybe but not sold. You need to consider where you're going to be based and which company is going to offer the better QOL. Eagle is hiring about 30 a class twice a month, which for the size of this company is not a whole lot. Upgrade is long!!!

oh ps: come to Eagle we need better staffing, thanks.

I'm really interested in AE because they will let me choose my base (really want ORD). Not too worried about upgrade time. What does it mean to the pilots if AE is going to be "shrunk" or "sold" Do we still have job security?? etc.... I'm just getting done working aerial survey (1000TT 65ME by the time i'm done) so i'm not too keen on the airline life yet. any advise?

just saw your post at the Comair update thread. I would interview at both then most assuredly choose Comair. if you don't get selected at Comair, you could go to Eagle. Comair takes about a week for the yea or nay, Eagle will let you know the same day, provided you pass the Captain review board and background check.

So About a week and a half after submitting my resume' i could interview! Keep in mind that I used airlineapps.com I think this helped me a lot. I published my application/resume' on airlineapps on Sunday and have 3 interview offers already.

J Bizon: (I would PM but he doesn't have enough posts)

What are your times?

I'm only at 450/50 CFI CFII MEI w/ an eagle internal rec.

I know I know I should keep instructing, but the feast famine pay is nuts, plus the company is about a month from going out of buisness.

Haven't heard back from eagle, I've only done the app no resume.

I currently have about 850TT 65ME with MEL Commercial Instrument.

I used airlineapps.com and had an interview offer within 14 hours after "publishing" my application on airlineapps.com

I'm pretty sure AE minimums have dropped to 350/50. My AIM is SnwBrdSims

Comair is hiring 300 to 400 this year, and just starting to ramp up. So if you can get on at the begining of this phase you're seniority will move up quickly.
However that being said, both have relatively long upgrades, and are two different cultures. Interview at both, if AE needs an immediate answer, interview at Comair first. Look at bases, reserve rules and expected lenght which would be an estimate then choose best fit for you. If you have more questions feel free to pm and I will get back to you between flights.
Good Luck

I would go for the QOL. If you can live in a base then life will be 10x better than commuting. AE and Comair are both about the same level as far as pay/workrules/etc. and are decent regionals.

Yes, there are two completely different cultures there, I prefer Comairs' culture to A.E. Also Comair is getting more and bigger airframes, while A.E. is not growing and may be getting sold. I was told Comairs' flying is about to go 50% increase out of JFK. Hope this helps in your decision process.

Misinformation strikes again!!

The memo stated 50% of Comair's flying was going to be out of Northeast/JFK. Although some increases are going to occur, it will not be as much as you described.

37 will be parked from Mesa on May 2nd. due to Delta canceling their contract with Mesa. Comair is parking fewer CRJ200 than planned due to the increase in flying and replacing some with CRJ900. You need to interview with both companies and find out for your self which company’s culture and QOL matches your needs. I hope both will offer you a job so you will have a choice. Good luck and have fun.
