Just a hypothetical, mainly XJT question
Disclaimer: I'm not worried about being furloughed, or even predicting one, but am just curious.
Would the payroll deduct for uniforms and whatever else they're deducting for (some people bought the coyote works stuff) be put on hold in the event of a furlough, or do you suppose it would have to be paid off out of the last paycheck?

Man, serious. If pilots are furloughed and without a job I dont think a uniform deduction is going to be a major issue on those without a job minds.
Plus who knows what would happen.....how would anyone know what whould happen in a "what if" situation

Last time CoEx furloughed they didn't deduct anything for the payroll deducted items that had been bought. They just wiped the slate clean. I never got a bill from them. I had a whole bunch of stuff too, like 5 uniforms, and the leather jacket...

I think you misunderstood the point of my post... It wasn't to say its important or even relevant, or that somebody who lost a job would even worry about uniform money...
It was just a hypothetical question that all of a sudden popped into my mind.
Anyway,..... I'm bored. The collections answer made me smile =)

I think it would be a huge issue if one had, say a thousand bucks worth of stuff on the payroll deduct plan, get "effed," then the company extracts the balance due from your last check or two Just adds insult to injury.
This should be clearly spelled out in your contract, ask your union rep.
Hope nobody finds out the answer first hand, but if I thought I was going to get "effed" I think I'd be chugging through my sick leave and vacation time, or better yet, might be out on a "medical" before the "event" happened, depending on benifits available, but then again, there is nothing like a job interview to make someone feel much better.
