Sennheiser HMEC 25-KA????

Do any of you know anything about this headset?? I just got hired at a regional and I'll be on the CRJ. I've had a pair of old DC's ($50 off E-BAY) for a while now. I thought it was time for an upgrade.

Now this may sound dumb...Lets say you're using an ANR headset and your batteries go dead: Does that render that headset inop until you put in new batteries or is it just the ANR that goes ca-put?? Thanks guys!

I can't speak for all ANR headsets but the DC's that I have still work with a dead ANR battery. Don't know anything about the Sennheiser's but have you looked into the Telex 850's? (i think thats the model) They have ANR but use power from the aircraft instead of a battery

I use the Sennheiser HMEC25-KA in the ATR. I'm sure it would make the RJ close to silent because it does a great job for the ATR.

But it might be unnecessary for the RJ. the 850's are probably the way to go.

I am thinking about switching to the 850. The HMEC25-KA is a really nice headset flown with a few guys that use them, but 850 = no battery to worry about.

I've got them...they're great. Compared to the 850, the senn.'s are quieter. I found them refurbished with warranty from Senn. so I paid the same price as the 850's. If you can't find them for the same as the 850's though, personally I'd spend less as the difference isn't $300.00 worth.

As far as the batt.'s go, I've used 15min. rechargeable ones from Radio Shack for the last 2years

Thanks for all the input guys!!

Had mine for about 3 months and love them, get about 25 hr's on two batteries and like the mp3 and cell phone adapter feature for long flights that need some tunes to go faster, turns into a regular non anr if batteries go out.
