Yep...some people need the time away every week. I'd get bored as hell being home every night. What's wrong with you guys ;) LoL well I suppose it helps to have always been a wanderer. Some of my friends (far smarter than I), could tell right off the bat that this lifestyle wasn't for them...good on 'em.

Me too. But I have absolutely no idea what else to do. Besides, I am actually starting to like it. I left my job in Europe 4.5 years ago and have had a hard time readjusting to US life after 15 years overseas. But the move to the left seat was just what the doctor ordered. No power trip, but it has been a breath of fresh air after 6 years of right seat RJ flying. Even with the low seniority captain spot I have now, I am enjoying the new challenges. Plus, for the first time in my flying life I am not scraping the bottom of the barrel $$$-wise. There is actually money left over to save each month for retirement. I kinda like that.

We'll see what happens, but lately I have had a better outlook than I did the previous couple years.

Did something happened in the last few weeks in the Airline industry? I remember your post and about 90% of the people disagree with you. Now the same type of question with other words is posted and it turns out that now 90% of the pilots around here is tired of flying... can someone explain this??

Most jobs become boring at some point. There are few who could say they truly love what they do in almost every industry or field. Motivation and goals are what makes people go forward and when you are getting tire of doing what you do, you simply don't have the motivation anymore or don't remember your goals. No matter what you do in life, it is just not easy and money is not free and the grass is hardly greener in the other side. Look at aviation from a global perspective and not so much from a national perspective. Also, there is always the possibility to do a second career without having to quit aviation. As far as for Spooled, some careers have higher divorce rates (doctors, lawyers, pilots, investment bankers, etc) but a lot of time a marriage was not strong enough in the first place and your career accelerated things. Give your family quality time, so when you are home, it is 100% their time. I you like what you do for a leaving, involve your family more in your life, and their support will only make you a better person and a better pilot.

Where is Skyhigh?

"jet careers is a website run by a Delta 767 f/o who has more ego than he knows what to do with, but that is another topic for another day."

JC is a great site for newbs to learn how things work in the biz. I don't think slamming their webmaster is something we need to see here. So, let's not make it a topic for another day.

Being a pilot and having a wife/family is not a good combination.

Maybe for some...coming off of military life with deployments and being stationed on the otherside of the US (we see each other a few days every 2 months) airline life is looking like a step-up for me. To each his(her) own though. All a matter of perspective.

I'm not slamming the webmaster of JC, I'm simply calling it like I see it. That is the honest-to-goodness impression I get from it.
