delay interview
 

Just say i am called for an airline interview but i am getting married 2 months later and it will interrupt training etc, will they delay my class date until after my previuosly scheduled affairs are over?

Most pilots I know would postpone the wedding:D Seriously though, thats a tough one. I think depending on the airline they might have some flexibility in class dates but if you select a class date way in the future their needs could always change and then you would be left in limbo. We all know what the regional world is like...

why wait / delay a good thing...
 

Why not prepone your wedding?

It boils down to you have to make a choice. You either get married and don't accept the class date or you **** off your soon to be wife and pospone the wedding to accept the class date.

I know from experience with this. I was offered a position in the left seat of a SAAB several years ago and I knew that the class date would probably overlap my wedding and honeymoon when I interviewed. I told the folks in the interview that I could not accept a class date during the time span of my wedding and honeymoon.(because I all but knew for sure that I was hired....not trying to sound cocky but sometimes you can just tell) They said that it was NO problem, and they would work with my planned schedule and that they would be in touch.

I know you might think the story stops here, but no. They called me a couple of days later and offered me the Captain possition with a class date DURING THE TIME SPAN I TOLD THEM I COULD NOT ACCEPT. I explained my situation again to the gentleman who called me with the offer, and he said no problem and they would call me later with another class date. They did, but it was the same class date and I explained my situation again. Again, they said no problem. I waited a couple weeks to hear back from them and started to get concerned. I called them several times and finally got in touch with someone. They basically said thanks but no thanks.

My point is you HAVE TO work with their (the hiring airline) schedule or forget about the position. Again, it boils down to making a choice.

First you get the money...then you get the women...(woman in your case).

push back the wedding...i dont understand why that would be a big deal. work should come first id imagine and i dont understand why the woman wouldnt understand that.....

thats a tough choice....good luck. I got married about 9 months ago. I know it is is not as simple as "just push back the Wedding" to many things within a wedding to do so. anyways like i said good luck

Seniority can make a difference in a future upgrade or reserve, the girl will always be there.

Here's a suggestion - Ask your futue wife what she would recommend? You should pay very close attention to how she proposes to handle this dilemma. I can assure you that there will be countless "conflicts" in a future airline career. If she understands this well and offers creative solutions and shows flexibility she may be a good airline wife. However, if she throws a fit and demands things go as she has planned, you my friend are in for a life of misery unless you change careers.
