Jumpseat flowback on Mesaba???

I was recently told that offline pilots that are CASS are not allowed to flowback to the cabin in the event the jumpseat is taken. Is that the case?

Fairly new to Mesaba, and I do not quite understand your question, but Mesaba has unlimited jumpseating for CASS members as I understand it. Its also my understanding in normal circumstances, if the jumpseat is taken, then the flight is full anyway.

Mesaba has an open seat open jumpseat policy for all CASS and recip agreement jumpseaters. Obviously if the cabin is full, then they can only take 1 person upfront.

The only time the jumpseat would be taken (other than a full flight) is during a line check or if a newhire wants to observe. In those cases anyone on the approved jumpseat list can take a seat in the back. Unless for some reason (always an issue on the Saab) weight and balance will not allow a full flight to go out.

Sorry if I wasn't clear.

I was told that non-Mesaba pilots can only ride in the jumpseat if available. In other words, if a Delta pilot wanted to jumpseat, but the jumpseat was taken by a line check airman, a Mesaba pilot, or anybody; the Delta pilot would not be allowed to board even if there were 20 open seats in the back. Is that true or can the Delta pilot "flowback" into the cabin if it's available?

That sounds like gate agents making up their own policies.

NOT true, the Delta pilot would be able to sit in the back.

With the new travel agreement, the delta pilot could also fly free on a pass.

That is absolutely not true. Anyone who is in CASS is free to sit in back, as long as there is a seat open, and the weight/bal allows. In fact, anyone who is non-Mesaba may NOT sit in the actual jumpseat unless it is full in back. This is all in the FOM, 9.3 D,E,F.

If someone is making policies up, just politely show them your FOM, page 9.3.7 (9.3.F): Cabin Jumpseating. It's unlimited.

Gojet pilots are no longer included in the approved offline jumpseat agreement, as per the MEC
